Africa is a huge and diverse place, especially for a continent that people occasionally call a country.

there are many ways to divide Africa.
Great Britain, France, Portugal, Germany, Italy and Belgium agree

Tunis is just off Sicily, while Cape Town is around the same latitude as Sydney.
Gambia is further west than Ireland or Portugal, while Somalia is further east than Jordan or Moscow.

Let's face it, the same people who thinks Africa is one homogenous continent also thinks Asia = China

As an Algerian, I'd like to say that here is a huge diversity of cultures from east to west and from north to south. Even each region has its own linguistic dictionary, but there are common words as well.

As an African living in Europe I am often being asked how a typical ”African” food looks like, like if Africa was a country. I usually answer that it is like asking a European person how Pakistani food looks like because the cultural difference between two African countries can be similar or even greater to that between a European and Asian country.

Little known fact is that Dr. Congo actually momentarily went by the acronym "TCFKAZ" or "The Country Formerly Known As Zaire".

For people who aren’t African:
Don’t think that one ethnic groups is exclusively in one country. Because of colonialism, the country boundaries disregarded ethnic lines and made them separate. I’m from The Gambia and we only have 2 million people (it’s the smallest country by landmass on mainland Africa) but there are many ethnic groups living there like Mandinka (which is what I am), Wolof, Fula, Jola, etc. We don’t speak the same language but most people born in Africa speak 2 native languages and 1 European language like my parents. They speak Mandinka, Wolof, and English.

Definitely Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa by far and the continents largest economy is worth an episode of it’s own if only to highlight its own diversity. It’s home to the world’s richest black man and some of the world’s poorest. It exports the most highly educated immigrant group to the US while paradoxically possessing low adult literacy rates. From lush green verdant rain forests in the extreme south to Saharan desertification encroachment in the far north. It has more different and distinct languages spoken within its borders than any other country.

The East African Federation's borders look so nice, not a single straight line in sight. (except for state borders, but I can't complain in the U.S.)
