Glad to see this being touched on. It absolutely annoys me when people (including black Americans) think Africa is comprised of one, great big homogenous peoples.

The continent is as diverse as anywhere else in the world.

wow, this taught me so much. Africa is soooo diverse. To just call them black people is to ignore every other fact of how much different they are from each other. Thank you. great video

The American Africans who make those claims about North Africa are not necessarily Afrocentric. Afrocentrism is being used as a catchall term for blacks who have different opinions, some of which are deemed erroneous by the mainstream. Also there are no such groups as Negroid, Caucasoid, or Mongloid. Saying that the supposed Cushites have "caucasian" features is laughable. In all honestly, the Eurasians have "Cushitic" features.

As a Somali, I would say, you covered the DIVERSE groups of Africa nicely. Now, it’s up to the viewers to further research and study in order to delve into the unique tribes of the continent. Great job for conveying the message.

Thank you for sharing. As a black American I have educated myself about the continent of Africa and I have learned so much in my studies over the YEARS. Including what has been shared in your video.

I feel that for black Americans to gain a sense of identity we at times disregard the vastness of Africa. We treat Africa as one big country and not continent, and as one big racial group. We should never belittle or disregard others, their history and who they are in order for us to gain an identity. Africa existed waaaay before slavery and Africa had civilization, culture and medieval kindoms prior foreiners touching the continent. Yes, you can find some groups that have mixed with outside influences due to trading or later due to colonization. But there are just as many that have particular features due to their regional location. Similar to Asia and Europe regional differences that reflects in features, food, language and music.

We acknoledge the diversity of Asia but will get mad if you highlight the diversity of Africa.

Fantastic work. May all Africans love one another and embrace and be proud of their diversity. May our goal be only to protect our Motherland and Her huge heritage and resources jealously.

A native is just someone who was born in a country. However, an indigenous person belongs to a group that always existed or was the first group to live in that country.
So Whyte people can be natives to an African country but can't be indigenous to an African country.

This is why blacks in America call ourselves African-Americans because in our ancestry nine times out of 10, we have a whole mix of these different groups .

Proud African-American here with a vast mix of the Americas, Caribbean, Asia and Europe with other outliers. All of my ancestors from all over are the result of how I was born here today. I embrace it all, history is never perfect and there are still tragedies that go on and corrupt governments. However I wish we get to a point where what we look like doesn’t overshadow the issues that effects humanity. While still acknowledging the truth. We all have ancestors that were and still are victims of trades and colonization, the ones who stayed silent and those who participated in the atrocities. The only thing is that direct descendants of those who wanted to colonize all over the globe. They still don’t want to acknowledge the truth and admit it was wrong and it was designed to stay at the top and reign superior over others.

The black Americans don't even know where exactly they come from and want to separate us. I am from Morocco and the amazigh people live for thousands of years in Africa. We have always good relationship with the black Africans, we can learn a lot from our history, like the history of the city of Timbuktu.
