VMware Fusion 13 Pro is OUT! New Windows 11 ARM tutorial for M1/M2 Macs

VMware Fusion 13 is now out! It comes in the free Fusion Player and the paid Fusion Pro editions. I go through the entire install process and also compare with the older Tech Preview build of VMware Fusion 12.

For anyone who's still having a problem getting version 13 over the older 12 version you need to add a "-13" (without quotes) to the end of the URL after "personal" so it should look something like

Thanks, really clear instructions. Only one tiny bit I got stuck on - after installing homebrew, I needed to follow the "next steps" 3 commands at the end of installation to add brew to PATH.

This worked with version 13.5, I was having trouble using the new VMware Fusion interface to directly download the Windows 11 ISO so I tried instead downloading the VHDX and converting it to VMDK and it worked perfectly! Thank you so much!

Wow! Thanks Andrew! That was one of the best instructional videos I've ever gone through! I needed every single step you provided to get Windows 11 working on my M1 MacBook Air using VMWAre Fusion 13 Player. It's running great now. I also appreciated the comparison and view of UTM and Parallels. Thanks to your very helpful video, I'll stay with Fusion for now. I see it is a bit inferior to UTM and Parallels in installation straightforwardness, emulation support, and support of all the M1 features but it's free and I don't currently do any Windows gaming. Yet another vote of thanks. I would NEVER have got this running without this to guide me ... too many Windows Power User hacks required. We can only hope that VMWare are putting off simplifying things until the final arm release, not wanting to invest too much until the dust settles.

whew...I am exhausted. A great explanation if not a bit fast. I have been a VMWare fusion intel user for years but bought Parallels because Fusion wasn't available for M2 Mac which I purchased recently. Parallels is a very nice program..installs instantly with Windows included. The problem with Parallels is, of course cost, and only for one year and one computer. I guess I will be continuing with Parallels on my M2 Mac until the end of the 1 year license and will also continue with VMware on my old MacPro 5, 1 and Imac. Hopefully by next year VMWare will be a bit easier to install. Thanks again for a fine and informative video.
