If you were setting out to make a country rich, what kind of mindsets and ideas would be most likely to achieve your goals? We invent a country, Richland, and try to imagine the psychology of its inhabitants.

To be honest, this sounds a lot like South Korea. The pressure to succeed, high suicide rate, hyper consumerism and materialism. Also, it is one of the most capitalistic countries in Asia.

That is not how to make a country rich. This is one-sided criticism of the modern world at best.

In a truly rich country people would first of all be aware of the fact that they are actually much less successful in their careers if they let anxiety and negativity rule, and secondly they would place value on much more important things than merely how famous someone is or how much money someone makes.

Brazil is the opposite of that, specially when comes to meritocracy and competition.
Here in Brazil, you can't get a job unless an insider is your friend or relative, no matter how good you are.
People hate competition here.
