Hey everyone! I really hope you guys enjoy this video. I've been working NON-STOP on this for the past 4 weeks, and I'm pretty sure its one of my best videos YET. Thanks so much for watching!

Edit: am I aware that my map of the United States is messed up? Yeah. It’s a lot harder to build an entire map of a country in Minecraft than you think. I did my best though, lol. Have a great day.

fun fact: cities can also get split too. like berlin in the 70s. west and east berlin has been guarded with the infamous "berlin wall" with murals and inside it contains a death strip full of death traps

this video is really wholesome lol. I’ve always been wanting to make my own city/country for an SMP, because most SMPs I join usually result in people going off and doing their own thing. Here are some of my ideas about making cities in Minecraft:

-Transportation is going to be huge. Not only for getting citizens from one place to another, but think about your military advancing on an enemy country or trade routes. I suggest having multiple forms of transportation, the easiest of which is boats. Have a docking system on the coast of your country with both regular boats and chest boats for traders. For your navy, it might sound dumb but it’ll be smart to put llamas in your boat’s passenger seat. Why? Because if anyone tries to ambush you in the middle of the ocean with arrows, they might miss occasionally and accidentally hit the llama. When llamas are agrivated, they start to spit at the attacker which can be used as an extra bit of weaponry. Also, for the person riding on top of that llama, it’ll be easier for them to fire arrows at the enemies because they have more height, meaning the arrows can travel longer before hitting the water. Also, putting llamas in boats as extra ranged attacks can be used as psychological warfare against the enemy, because who on earth would expect an entire fleet of boats with not only a llama in the passenger seats, but a person riding on TOP of that llama? Llamas are also hard to control and to predict, which is better because if you do not know your next plan of attack, neither can they. For land, the obvious choice might be sprinting. I suggest using a ridable animal such as a horse, because not only are they extremely fast and can jump high, but it doesn’t take away from your hunger bar, meaning you don’t have to use up more food. I also suggest collecting more types of ridable animals, such as camels and, weirdly enough, donkeys. Although camels are slow for the most part, they can act as great taxis/ubers because of their second seat. Donkeys can be useful for traders because of the extra storage space they have if you place a chest on them. Something interesting you can do as well is make a horse breeding business. It sounds weird… I know… but it’ll be worth it! If you don’t know, breeding horses can cause the baby to have stacked stats like speed, jump height, and health. Before, the baby horses would only have the average taken from their parents. Now, in 1.20, Mojang simplified horse breeding so it no longer takes the average stats, but instead just adds them up! That way your nation can have a monopoly over god-tier horses. Lots of players might not know this, but you can actually cross-breed horses and donkeys to make the ULTIMATE land transportation animal; the mule. Mules take the agility and health of horses and the extra storage-capability of a donkey and combines them into one singular animal, which I’m still surprised that not many people know about! You might be tempted to make an interconnected minecart system around your nation… Don’t! The resources required for laying down hundreds of tracks is just not worth it when sprint jumping is faster than a minecart on powered rails, unless they buffed it idk. If you have too much iron and need to use it on something, I would suggest to use a minecart system in the mines. Over time, your mines are going to expand, which means it’ll take more time for miners to get to areas that haven’t been harvested. Use furnace minecarts instead of powered rails to save some redstone. Lastly for transportation, you can always create ice highways in the nether, but I wouldn’t recommend that because it’ll require a LOT of resources, time, and possibly lives. I’d recommend primarily focusing on your nation in the overworld.

-Military is going to be crucial for your nation’s survival. I’d recommend splitting it up into 3 core branches: The interior police, guardsmen/defenders, and the warriors. Cool names I know. The interior police is pretty straightforward - making sure all of your citizens are in check and not commiting crimes and/or revolutions. Something you might need to watch out for, however, is to limit the amount of weaponry that your citizens can have. Because if your citizens have gear that’s better than the interior police, that’s going to be a problem. Next up is the defenders, which are responsible for defending your nation from outside forces. This can mean patrolling the border, as well as fortifying a wall (if you’re not concerned with expanding). Lastly is the warriors, which is exactly how it sounds; going on the offensive and wiping out enemy nations. Warriors can also be used for non-player threats, such as mob attacks, or in extreme cases fighting off an enemy wither. Have multiple different types of fighters, and make sure they’re comfortable with the gear your warriors are given. Have people with axes, maybe swords, shields, bows/crossbows, tridents, and if all else fails, TNT. I’d also recommend using potions, they’re more useful than you think. There’s pretty much no defense against someone wielding splash potions of harming or poison. If you’ve ventured into the end, tipped arrows will also be useful. Crossbows are the most interesting because you can have multiple types. You can have one with piercing that can bypass shields and can go through multiple players, you can have some with multiple quick charge crossbows, and they can scroll through and fire each of them (if you have enough of those players, they can be great machine guns that never stop). You can have multishot crossbows to act basically as shotguns, and you can combine that with fireworks to make rocket launchers. You could also use TNT cannons if you’re attempting to breach another nation’s wall, but keep in mind that nation could always use water buckets to stop the TNT from harming anything. Have warriors on horses or mules, boats, and even better… IN THE SKIES! No, I’m not talking about an elytra. I’m saying flying machines! Not only would pilots be able to rain down arrows from above, but they can also use dispensers to have TNT minecarts fall from the skies, because they explode on impact and not a timer like regular TNT! Lastly, come up with formations and strategies. Have a line of warriors with shields to slowly approach and box in enemies, while swordsmen and axers come in from the sides. Have archers be stationed far away and out of sight (even better if you use invisibility), while your pilots bomb the enemies from above, and of course your cavalry charging forward with their horses. Plan retreats and surprise attacks, etc. Oh, and if you’re a super rich nation, you could send in an army if iron golems. They’re perfect; they are technically tamed by their creators, they aren’t as destructive as withers which can harm your own nation, and they aren’t as weak as dogs. Or you could have foxes holding sharp 5 fire aspect netherite swords in their mouths, whatever you want! :)

-Communication, while seemingly not important, is going to be important. Only use the Minecraft public chat as a military if you’re surrendering to your enemies or if you’re going to /msg someone. I suggest creating a discord server with a few dedicated VCs, but make sure there’s order otherwise all you’ll be hearing is a bunch of 14 year olds screaming at once. Use bells for calling trials or city meetings. You could also use goat horns to convey different emergencies with a set code! (plus wouldn’t it be absolutely dope if your army uses goat horns in the middle of a charge) Firework crossbows also work great as well. Or you could go old fashioned and use campfire towers to convey smoke signals or giant mights for morse code (morse code can be pretty easily decoded by the enemy once they figure out that your using it, just an FYI).

-Districts is what’s going to hold your nation together. Designate certain areas for certain roles, like farms, tree chopping (and replanting), harbors, fishing boats, mines, etc. Encourage citizens to take on certain jobs, which will make your nation more unique! Food is especially going to be probably the most important thing out of everything I said. Make space for a really large wheat farm, but don’t use it for bread! Use it to breed cows and sheep, as well as using the excess seeds for chickens which can be useful in the production of arrows, and… cakes, I guess.

Those are some of my ideas, sorry if this comment was super long, don’t worry if you didnnt read all of it. All you have to remember is transportation, military, communication, and districts are crucial for your nation’s success. :)

When you expect it to be a 10 second video of placing a flag and saying "I'm your king now bow to me, " then you get a 20 minute history lesson taught in Minecraft. Congrats guys, your teachers are everywhere.

Fun Fact: Flags can symbolize how their countries show personalities or history about themselves.

For instance: In the US flag, the stars symbolize the 50 states and the stripes represent the 13 colonies.
