10:14 The most annoying thing about the weekend is nobody's talking about Villa winning 6-1 against Brighton, City losing, United losing again, or Everton losing the easiest fixture in the league. All of these are massive results! And the only talking point is Tottenham Liverpool and nothing about that is about the actual game. This was the biggest weekend of the season so far and all of it has been muted essentially.

My problems with fans is they think that mistakes arent lower!? VAR are correcting bad reffing/linemanship 40 times each weekend. There have been bad VARing but if you want good officiating you CANNOT get rid of VAR. I agree getting better can only be a good thing.

James mate Liverpool have missed out on 2 premier league titles by a point. One of them Would have meant a PL + CL double and the other would've been part of a domestic treble. All well and good saying that's life but the points robbed by VAR against spurs can rewrite history, they can define careers and Legacies. At the end of the day I just want Klopp and this team to be given a a fair chance to show what they can do, whatever that may be, and that didn't happen at Spurs.

Disagree with you on the part where you say that ppl dont focus on when they get it right, which is true, but its their job to get it right. If a barista spilss coffee once or twice then its excused but if they keep on doing it consistenly they get fired. Should be the same with VAR. these refs are consistently messing up and its inexcusable

Unfortunately as frustrating as it is, sometimes it needs to happen to a big club because they get the noise and it makes change happen.

It is the responsibility of the big club though to speak up and demand more because they know they have the power.

Seen lots of people slating Liverpool for their statement but they are doing the right thing. Them speaking up will hopefully lead to change across the league. It’s not about getting a replay or a point or whatever. That’s not their goal. So kudos to them for speaking up and looks to be taking action cause they easily cause of whined and gone about their day and ignored the underlying issues which is that there’s zero accountability and the mistakes keep piling up, affecting clubs every week.

It's just lovely how Liverpool get objectively robbed a goal by terrible refereeing and the discourse online is how entitled (?), annoying and wingy Liverpool/Klopp/the fans are.

Come on Jimbo..

I honestly think this comes down to communication.

Are they under pressure to get to the right decision quickly, yes. Because we have no idea what's going on and people get restless when it takes too long.

If it takes them 2 mins and we can't hear them, it feels like it's taking them 5. If it took them 2 mins but we could hear the communication, it would probably feel quicker.

Think of the fact that Liverpool have come second by 1 point in recent seasons. Or the margins to getting into the Top 4. Think of the repercussions. To the fans, the players, the club, the finances. I think they have every right to see what options they have available. PGMOL have never been worse and have no accountability. Let them see some accountability. I think every team should do it and eliminate sh!t refereeing from the game. Then we can get back to enjoying football as it should be

What I don’t understand is how near perfect it can be in the World Cup or even in the modern day champions league yet so bad in our domestic competition… how is that possible?

20:41 “We’re fuming every week, but we get on with it” So then why are you so against a big club finally calling the PGMOL out on their bs? Like you said, if it was QPR, nobody would care, but it’s not. It’s Liverpool and they’re trying to make an example of this for the rest of football. It’s not entitled, it’s pushing back against a self governing establishment that is consistently wrong and ruining the game

A good thing from Rugby is the refs call the players over and explain what they've done and why its a red card and then show the card instead of showing it and saying red card with no explanation (as can be heard in the audio from Virgil van Dijks send off against Newcastle).

Why would Liverpool *not* want to escalate it? We’re living in a timeline where state-backed clubs are completely dominating at a domestic level (whether than funding is legitimate or not), and means titles are often decided by 1 or 2 points. How can the application of VAR have such an influence on the outcome of games when it’s clear every point matters

a.culture

14:00 why wouldnt Liverpool want to escalate it? It's a results based business and they could potentially lose out in the long run because they got a black and white decision wrong. Comparing it to QPR vs Coventry doesnt make much sense as offside isnt subjective, whereas a foul is to a point. This is a freak scenario. How often do you see PGMOL apologizing for getting an offside wrong? Liverpool have an opportunity to make change potentially, and if they don't escalate it nothing will

this idea of jim being disappointed about it being properly highlighted only when it happens to the biggest club in the country is tragic. Surely use this as a moment for change rather then stopping progress with a small club v big club mentality

I think a big help would be broadcasting the conversation between VAR and the referee- rather than them getting to cherry pick what is released

My problem with this video: there's no audio! 🤣

As a Burnley fan, last season in the Championship was a relief - no VAR! Even though there were certainly poor decisions by officials at times, you just got on with it. Goal Decision System is great - works flawlessly 99.9% of the time (or appears to).

I agree we need semi automated offsides - it works well from what we have seen of it and it is so much quicker
For the rest, we need to use VAR only for it's intended use - which is to correct clearly wrong decisions. If a ref saw a foul and took action such as a yellow card - lets not waste time trying to see if we can send the player off instead.
Review penalty decisions, sure - there is usually a short delay in the game anyway & it's often a pivotal moment.
VAR is there to assist the referee not to overrule him - stop re-refereeing every incident.

Liverpool have lost the title twice because of 1 point gap, in a league this competitive there's no room for an error this blatant hence there's now even a question of corruption involved the level of incompetence is soo huge that Liverpool have to escalate this because they keep suffering just like the other teams in the prem, Its also about sending a message to the pgmol to improve quality this is not Sunday league

I’m a huge fan of both rugby and football. It is crazy to me the stark contrast in “VAR” type systems in each sport. Rugby seems to just have it right, there’s no distain for it even in the stadiums live. I think it comes down to two things. 1 the clock stops, this negates any time pressure fans put on the match officials allowing them time to make the right decisions. 2 audio is always shared, everyone watching knows clearly what aspects are being checked (often multiple) and if overruled why, this transparency makes it tick. Anyways I think VAR is great… but only in principle a lot work still needs to be done until it works and is accepted. Love your videos bro, all the way from New Zealand 🤙
