This is a tutorial on how to in general overclock a CPU, it is the methodology that I use when I first get a CPU and Mobo combo and I am here to teach you today! Good lucky!

Basically this is done on an Asrock Z77 Extreme 4, OTHER MOTHERBOARDS WILL LOOK DIFFERENT IN BIOS!!! please remember that.

Links for the 3 programs needed are here below (windows 7 64bit, if you are on a different OS / 32-bit version you may need different versions of the following):

CPU-Z -

Core Temp -

Prime95 64-bit

Any questions please ask them below and also subscribe to keep the BE going.

Also my other tutorial will be coming up soon on how to overclock in general when u get a mobo and CPU.

Usually Delete and / or F2 are the default keys for entering BIOS. I press the Delete key on my board.

Just gives you an estimate and baseline of how low your cpu can run at a particular voltage, and also gives you an idea of when DR (diminishing returns) hits hard.

I definitely recommend getting the side fans they help a lot (especially in the summer). The 212 evo is a great choice. I am using a JDM scythe water cooler (92mm), tiny but gets the job done hehe.

Thanks, and you're welcome!! 4.4ghz seemed to be a nice sweet spot for the 3570k, any higher and you can get excess heat / cores shutting down etc.

Hmmm I would say reinstall the OS (some programs can do strange things with cpus) if its not too much of a hassle then check straight after a reinstall, if it still does it then it could be a faulty motherboard.

Try 44 first and do it from the multiplier. I don't know FX-8350 voltage so much so you would have to check around and see what overclocks people have done.

Oh i have a friend who had this problem before, I think he changed his hard drive type in BIOS from SATA to ACHI mode, then he was able to toggle it.

Hope this helps.

You don't *need* it but its recommended as your computer will underclock itself when its not being clocked, there for saving you a bit of power and also saving your CPU heat if its being overclocked pretty high.

I recommend overclocking both, I have a guide to overclocking the GPU. For overclocking the CPU I recommend getting an aftermarket CPU cooler (evo 212 is always a good choice), also crysis 3 won't benefit as much as other games because it is so GPU intensive, but a good CPU overclock is always better than none and may help in some parts of the game with lots of shades / physics.

That is very weird, I don't have the mobo and processor so it would be hard to help. The motherboard should definitely be ample fine for that CPU, I am guessing its a setting in BIOS that you have to change. Maybe the cool n quiet setting?

? What do you mean. What voltage setting is my cpu currently using?

I usually only got 5 mins, then depending on how the computer felt I will just boot into games. Games will stress your overclock a lot better than some programs will. I found heroes of newerth was an excellant program for testing stability of the CPU overclock lol.

Also did you update the bios to the latest revision?

Hey there, are you on an i5-3570k? What CPU are you on? The motherboard may be holding you out too, those voltages are very high for ivy bridge and usually at 1.4volts with extreme cooling people are getting 4.9-5ghz.

thanks for taking the time to make the video !

Nice results, the main reason is because all processors are different. you can have an 3570k that does 4.2 at 1.15 and one that does it at 1.05, thats "the luck of the bin" when you buy a CPU. Its not uncommon for people to buy 4 or 5 cpus when they first come out, pick the best one then ebay the others. So yours might be able to go higher than others.

Ok let me know what mobo exactly, and also do you have a aftermarket cooler on the CPU?
