Deadly mercury metal vs. my hand #shorts

Don’t try this at home. It won’t kill you but I still don’t recommend it and don’t take any responsibilities if you decide to give it a try.

Mercury is such a cool and useful element, I can only imagine how it must feel!
I also know all of these facts about it, logically, I do, but Mercury is still on my list of *Nope!* chemicals that I just won't work with, regardless of its form and the safety precautions available to me.
Nothing scares me more than airborne neurotoxins which can bioaccumulate, are detrimental (in ppb concentrations) to not only your intelligence, but can also mess with your memory and distort your perceptions of reality itself!
Oh, and you have no way of knowing if your reality has been compromised, because there are no definitive tests (except for direct biopsies of the relevant parts of the brain, but you really don't want to do that a lot...) that can prove that your brain hasn't absorbed a clinically insignificant, but perceptually compromising, amount of Mercury (or Lead for that matter).

I will just never understand how people can be so illogically scared of radiation and radioactive elements, while being completely okay with pumping thousands of metric tons of vaporised Mercury (and Mercury-Iaden fly ash) into the air around themselves...

Would I be correct to say that the fumes or vapours from mercury are the most dangerous route of exposure to mercury metal rather than direct skin contact ?

My teacher accidentally swallowed a big chunk of mercury when she was a kid 💀
