Suit up for classic comedy! Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) take a chance on going freelance, de-haunting houses in a new ghost removal service. As soon as they open their doors, their first order of business becomes saving beautiful cellist Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and nerdy Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), who’ve inadvertently opened the gates of hell…right in their own apartment building!

“Symmetrical book stacking; like the Philadelphia Mass Turbulence of 1947”. “You’re right. No human being could stack books like this”.
Absolutely priceless.

RIP Harold Ramis (November 21, 1944 – February 24, 2014), aged 69
And
RIP Ivan Reitman (October 27, 1946 – February 12, 2022), aged 75
You both will be remembered as legends.

The dry, witty, sarcastic, brilliant jokes per minute in this movie are astounding. Every moment is a comedic masterpiece.

"Back off man, i'm a scientist" and "somebody blows their nose and you wanna keep it"are just two of the verbal gems this classic is loaded with.

More laughs in the first 10 minutes of this film than in the entirety of the 2016 travesty. I also love the way the musical score combines spooky and comical- perfect compliment to the screenplay.

"This reminds me of the time you tried to drill a hole through your head."
"That would've worked if you hadn't stopped me!" 😂😂😂😂

The introduction with the librarian, is the PERFECT way to build up creepy tension. The fact that they never let you actually see the Librarian Ghost, and instead show you objects moving and the clerk's reaction, lets your imagination create what the monster looked like, which is always scarier than anything hollywood can make.

The eerie quiet, the creepy music, just objects levitating past her at first, and then things going crazy, her panic running at what was chasing her, that's all far scarier than anything else in the movie.

RIP Ivan Reitman... a brilliant director and by all accounts, a kind and decent man.

The best thing is that his theory about negative re-enforcement on ESP ability was actually WORKING :D

I remember lines of people around the block for this movie.
And when the ghost screamed - the audience screamed all together, and laughed all together as the guys ran out of the library.
That was an incredible experience- even as a kid.

Gotta say, Egon was my favourite. RIP Harold Ramis. Great guy

Apparently Egon's line "that would have worked if you hadn't stopped me" was improvised. I really hope so lol

I love how the movie starts out like a classic horror movie followed by the theme song and Venkman being Venkman changing the tone of the movie instantly.

One of my favorite lines ever is: “Listen! You smell something?” 😂

"Back off man, I'm a scientist." Bill Murray being Bill Murray.

Egon the scientist, Ray the historian, Peter the supernatural denier turned believer, and Winston the guy who needed a paycheck and stayed grounded in reality. Louis the goofball nerd, and Jeanine the b!tchy office assistant. You can't find character depth like this aside from a few Netflix series.

They tried to kill and bury the nostalgia in 2016 but the nostalgia came back, even stronger than before and conquered the destined path... Thank You Jason Reitman...
