If You Could Only Buy One Gold Coin, What Would It Be?

Similar to the topic, "what's the best gold coin to buy?", we're going to look at the question of which gold coin to buy if you could only buy one, over and over.

And, if you're just looking for a recommendation on which gold coin to buy but don't want to sit through the video and any inevitable ads, it's simple: 1oz American Gold Eagle or American Gold Buffalo (I like the Buffalo for the 24K benefits and tax implications in other countries). If the price seems too high on those coins, buy a 1/4oz American Gold Eagle. (Or the coin from your country's or region's mint. E.g., Gold Canadian Maple Leaf if you live in Canada.)

NOTE: I am not a financial planner. I'm just a guy on the internet, talking about precious metals. Always do your own research before buying gold or silver.

The Gold $50 Buffalo is my favorite gold coin. It reminds me of the wild west, native Americans, and American Bison roaming the open plains of the untamed west. A coin that puts the story of frontier America in your hand.

To me gold is gold as long as I get it at the cheapest price I can

That's a tough one. Probably the Buffalo. I do like the one ounce size the best. Great discussion sir.

I think the new Britannia gold and silver coins are fantastic! They always grab my eye when I come across them. As far as pure enjoyment to own, they would be my choice. Great channel!

I agree with you about the 1/4 ounce Eagle. A perfect size coin to stack.

I’m new here, from uk, years ago I used to buy 22ct jewellery then a Indian jeweller gave me idea to purchase maples. I brought 5 maples, later sold one to make jewellery, boy did I regret that, ever since I’ve wanted to replace that 1 oz coin .Finally last week I brought one though it’s dated 1992 from a jeweller. Been on your channel to see I did good or not .amazed to see all these men collectors and never knew men were into gold as I’m a female. It’s got me wanting buy more 😊

I'm in Canada so I get the 1oz Canadian maples. I get the best price for them here for selling. You have to pay sales tax when buying American gold eagles and you don't get as much when selling them. Gold buffalos look nice, but LCS here don't pay as much for them.

I bought gold from 2013 through 2019, the 1/4 oz American gold eagle was my favorite size mainly due to fitting my budget most of the time. Since my local shop didn't have gold buffalo, I'd buy the gold maple leaf if I wanted 24kt. Back then premiums ran 3%-4% on 1oz gold coins so I'd stick with American gold coins. But 2022/2023 premiums on American gold coins is crazy high so I think I'd consider switching to gold maple leafs if going 1 oz coins. What I also notice was that when gold prices were high, everyone wanted fraction gold coins which made them hard to come by which pushed me to purchase the 1 oz size. At least that was my experience.

Living I Sweden. By far the best value for me is the gold philharmonic. Best case cenario is the full ounce. But more realistic for me is the quarter ounce version

Hello, I'm from Germany. I prefer to buy 1/2 Oz. Krugerrands. Because it's worldwide known, easy to get and to sell, nearly everybody knows it or has heard of it. Also the gold copper alloy is not so sensitive. Alternative would be the american eagle and the sovereigns.

Full Oz. I buy either Eagles or Buffalos but prefer Buffalos. It took awhile for Buffalos to catch on but now everyone knows/wants them. Selling you may even get a slightly higher premium on the Buffalos now. Eagle or Maple for fractionals but prefer Eagles. In North America either are always readily accepted when you go to sell

My heart wants a Libertad or Britannia but my head says 1/4 AGE. I also stack the 2.5 pesos. Nice eye candy and great info!

So I did I little research and the 1/4 gold eagle has a bit of a premium going up as you go back so I'm going to start picking up a few every year

As much as i love the AGE, i would also go with the Gold Buffalo coins because of the 24 karats it contains! 👍

Gold Maple Leafs over American Eagles or Buffalos. Britannias and Kangaroos are also nice as well as KOMSCO coins.

As spot prices climb I think fractional amounts are better long term buys since it’ll be easier to move if you need to sell. Not many people can afford 5+ grand in one shot if prices continue to climb. Same thing for silver and why those large kilo bars are impressive, but they aren’t as desirable as prices climb.
