When I was a freshman in college back in 1972, I stopped into a record shop. The guy there was playing this song. When it finished he said “what a heartbreaker” and played it again. Needless to say I left with that record and have been a fan ever since

The tune that got me hooked on the Emmylou Harris sound! The first song I ever heard by her, played on WAXX in Eau Claire, Wisconsin!

I first heard this on the radio in 1975 when the LP 'Pieces of the sky' had just been released. I had never (consciously) heard of her. I recorded the radio program and was therefore able to listen to this beautiful song with her enchanting voice as often as I wanted. But after a few years I lost the cassette tape and although I now owned several Emmylou albums, Pieces of the Sky was not among them. I also didn't know that the song was on that LP, otherwise I would have bought it, now on CD of course. It was only in 2014 that I found this gem on Youtube. I still think it's one of the most beautiful songs she's ever recorded.
