I am a non religious person who practices daily meditation, I regularly use, the Gregorian chant, Ava Maria, as a tool for meditation, its is a appeal for mercy and a end of suffering, which is exactly why I meditate, when I use the chant mentioned, I normally achieve a good deep meditation, I practice shaolin martial arts, which is unique in martial arts, because it is the only martial arts that is embedded in a Buddhist tradition, "chan" or " zen Buddhism, although I have practiced for many years I do not " identify" as a" Buddhist

I was surprised to hear about Russell's conversion to Christianity. I always thought he had more of an interest in Buddhism. Perhaps Jordan Peterson has influenced him in this respect. I don't subscribe to any one religion as such, but I must admit to having said a little prayer during a time of some difficulty!

The issue with Buddhism is that it is very diverse. One branch of Buddhism is essentially a mental discipline similar to stoicism, the other is one which has deified Buddha into a man-God, akin a to Paganism.

It was St Dominic Guzman who was given the Rosary from our Lady. If Russel brand was baptised in the river Thames then it’s WAS NOT a Catholic baptism. Therefore he is not a Catholic.

Why must it be good? I don't think it inherently makes you a better or less self centred person, that's about values and compassion. I may be a long tradition with properties of meditation that are good for one's mental health but I'd rather think of the natural world in all its beauty, pray to a tree than some prescriptive religious narcissistic self reinforcement performance.

Catholics do not worship Mary, but honour her as the mother of Jesus. Praying the rosary enables us to walk through the life of Jesus with her. The addition of the Luminous mysteries allows us to focus on the active ministry of Jesus, including his first miracle - changing the water into wine at the Wedding at Cana, prompted by Mary. It's quite a beautiful prayer.
