The Tory leader, Rishi Sunak, accused the prime minister of taking the winter fuel payment away from low-income pensioners to give to 'highly paid train drivers' at PMQs.

Keir Starmer told MPs the Tory leadership hopeful Kemi Badenoch had previously expressed support for this measure and that the Tories would be in opposition for a 'very, very long time' if the party continues to pretend everything is fine with the economy.

So basically Starmer had no answer to the question

Starmer hoping this will ease the property shortages. The more indigenous that die the more immigrants can be housed

Why are you paying train drivers more money? It isn’t like they are going to do £10, 000 worth of more work is it?

How come people who moved to Spain can still get winter fuel, get rid of the lords that will fill the void 350pounds for just turning up

If only you could get a straight answer to the question! Didn’t see him being defiant when confronted by a group in London, he turned tail and ran, hide little man, Karma will eventually get you, however, on your guaranteed pay for life I doubt you will ever be poor or suffer like the people who pay taxes to support your unjustified life style.

It infuriates me when politicians dance around an answer without actually answering

@labourparty - this is absolutely appalling. Stealing from pensioners to fund already overpaid train drivers. As a young person with elderly parents and relatives, who I care about deeply, I certainly won’t be voting for you again.

yes he cuts the winter fuel payments and yet gives 10 billion pounds for pay rises to help the poor train drivers top up there £70000 per year wages and also bows down to what the unions say.tipical socialist labour

Pensioners just above the tax threshold will be £80 poorer when the pension rises by£400 next year, they've lost £200 winter fuel benefit this year and £200 next year so the pension rise as been swallowed up, they then have to pay tax on the £400 pension which is £80, if you are
Over 80 years old its even worse because they lose £600 winter fuel benfit

So they knew that questions was coming, and instead of having an actual answer, that the public might gain some understanding from, he uses the time to try and show hypocrisy. What a man, what a leader!

I’m surprised Starmer didn’t mention his father was a toolmaker? That would be about as relevant as his response.

Starmer seems to forget the question asked. If only we could fire him for dereliction of duty and failed promises after, how many months in charge? and the country sliding into a depression.

I'm not into politics but the years Rishi Sunnak was PM we had few extra payments that were welcome received for a lot of people, now is like we are going downhill and proud about it

He didn't address the question. We all know some don't need it but there are those that will really suffer hardship this winter.
