Also, Do not pass any School Buses that are stopped (With the Stop Sign Visible and the bus hazards flashing).

Fun facts: you can also turn left on a red if the road you are turning onto is one-way; also, yellow lines separate you from oncoming traffic (single carriageway) or the left edge of the road (dual carriageway) and white lines separate lanes going the same direction and are used to indicate the right edge of the road. And I know Washington State has started using roundabouts but you'll be going anti-clockwise! I'm American and felt the reverse of what you noted when I moved to Wales. Just passed my practical test thanks in part to your excellent videos, as even with 50 years of professional driving experience my US license was not accepted to trade for a UK one.

6:58 It is rare to have a dual carriageway 65 mph road that has traffic lights (these are usually controlled access roads) but if there is, there is usually a warning sign with flashing lights (usually saying "PREPARE TO STOP") when the traffic light is at red or getting ready to change to red. Roundabouts are found in the US depending on the state. I don't think Florida has many, but in the Eastern and Western states you will find more of them. Traffic rules are similar to UK (obviously mirrored), give way to traffic on the left (instead of right), and signal before exiting (you don't need to signal when entering).

There are roundabouts in the US (especially in richer neighborhoods), just not that many compared to Europe

Also to keep in mind
- if a cop pulls you over DO NOT get out of your car, the cop might see it as a threat and you might not like what happens afterwards
- do not pass a yellow school bus if it has its “stop” sign out and hazard lights on. It’s illegal to cross a school bus when kids are existing the bus.

Please know that driving in Florida is not necessarily like driving elsewhere in United States. Central Florida was mostly uninhabited empty farmland and it has only been developed over the last 40 or 50 years (following Disneyworld, the mass adoption of air conditioning, and housing estates/subdivisions) - so the road network there in Florida (a flat, featureless part of the United States), is generally much newer than the rest of the country. That’s why the roads are straight and flat with 90° crossroads. Sort of like the roads around Milton Keynes not being representative of the roads in UK as a whole.

8:45 There are not as many toll roads as you may think. You were in Florida, and yes, there are a number of toll roads there. But many states have few to none. The east coast will have a few, midwestern states some do, some don't. Most take EZPass, but not all.

I have driven a lot in the UK and the USA. As an Indian, I enjoy driving in the UK much more. The USA is a bit easier compared to other LHD countries as most cars are automatic but when I drove a LHD manual for the first time in Russia, it really felt strange.

Greetings from the US capital of roundabouts! We have more than 150 roundabouts in Carmel, Indiana (population 100, 000) with only about 10 or so traffic signals still in city limits.

Nice one Josh.. First time I drove a left hand drive car, I kept looking out the left window for the centre mirror haha. BTW I quite like the non Amber (similar in Europe), takes away the ambiguity of should I move on amber or wait for green (Amber is officially stop/wait ofcourse).

Shocks I got from driving in US (California):
No speed cameras. 😂
Undertaking in the right lane is a god given right. Expect trucks to do this on freeways. 😂
Stop sign drama, having to stop completely on an empty intersection.😅
35 mph speed limits in LA (odd to follow as its neither fast nor slow)
Parking is not a worry generally. There is plenty, even at a small 7eleven store, cvs or a mcdonalds. You don't need to park in a quiet street 2 miles away and walk in the rain just to go into a high street tesco for 5 mins😂

I think the “dual carriage ways” you are referring to mostly are just regular surface streets. Most of those roads have speed limits anywhere between 30 mph and 50 mph. If you get on the freeway those often go above or below all the other roads and as long as you don’t take an exit you shouldn’t have to stop at all unless there is a traffic jam. Most freeways have 65 mph speed limits, but some are 55-60 and some are 75. We also do have roundabouts but not very many, and it is usually one single town that decides to use them for most of their intersections. There are not many towns like that though.
