Sometimes it can be difficult to drive ground rods, especially if you hit the footing. Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever struggled to get a ground rod in the ground. Or even worse, if you’ve ever hit a gas line when you were driving ground rods!

We have sledge hammer head welded to a 3/4 rigid pipe and use it as a slide hammer then finish out when the handle hits the ground. If it is going hard we haul out the 40 lb jack hammer. Rarely easy in So Cal.

The head of the set screw will break before the acorn breaks

Milwaukee fuel impact on setting 2 will impact the acorns nicely, without splitting the acorn. As long as you give it just a good 2-3 hits. If you go more than that then you do risk busting them

What do you do about grounding the water system in your neck of the woods? By us, we need one complete wire that goes from meter to first point of Disconnect to ground rod to ground rod to water

What is the depth requirement in CA? Are both two rods going to the same panel?

Do you tie in your lightning protection to the separate ground rod? Or do you have a rd one ?

A hammer drill is a lot more efficient than a sledge or a mallet driving that rod
