I think claustrophobic people like me are not scared of the actual small space but the fear of getting stuck there and no one coming to take us out. It's the lack of complete trust.

I over came the fear of the elevator. My husband had a stroke and he was in the hospital on the 7 floor . My fear of losing him became more stronger than my fear of elevator . He was there for a month and I did get over both fears! It was a great feeling!

The most powerful thing a human faces fear itself. it's consuming and very powerful. The best way to overcome it's to face it. Knowledge it's power.

Wow, you just hit the nail on the head for me!! I totally thought it was claustrophobia (which I didn’t think I even had until that day), & being stuck in a corner of the elevator with way too many people & their luggage on it! This makes so much more sense- thank you!🥰

There’s no way I would get bored looking at the edge of the Grand Canyon from 2 feet away.

Well fear of failure and then you fail and then you feel exactly what you feared you would feel

I don't think getting bored would be the psychological response, because anxiety comes from using the elevator not staring at it. That's the difference. U are really afraid of falling while in it not being around it. Showing how elevators work and why it's safe to use them would be a better way, because it'd reduce the fear of the unknown, which is: mechanism with debatable funcionality safety and comfort with a dramatic significance in popculture connected to being stuck and/or dying while in packed, unnatural environment, often with people we don't really know.

This is exactly why when you ride motorcycles, when you get to the point where you're no longer scared of the power level of the bike.... it's time to get a bigger bike. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Immunity to poison ivy isn't garnered by repeated exposure; frequent contact makes the rashes worse.

It’s an interesting breakdown, the elevator is what your afraid off, but it’s not the elevator your actual afraid off!
It’s your unconscious mind, from a tomb of some sort you had when you were younger, or times you never stuck up for yourself. Jordan’s incredible!
