You made the worst choice to eat unheated food in the car for the first time. This is not how Romanian food is eaten and you missed the chance to have a much better experience

Ciorba de burta contains thripe (cow stomach). Cozonac its a sweet pastry bread with raisins and chocolate and some type of nuts. Cozonac is usually consumed on Easter, Christmas and New Year. Same goes for sarmale, its normally a food normally consumed on holidays. Coliva is a sweet food that is made from buckwheat and its normally made for funerals.

Romanian here what’s up so burta is cow stomach lining not calamari and the broth is from beef bones veggies such as garlic, onion carrots celery, sour cream vinegar and tons of other seasonings the reason it’s yellow is due to the carrots which make the soup orange, that colour basically gets diluted by the sour cream and makes the souo yellow

Sarmales are always eaten warm. No Romanian will eat them cold.
Tripe soup it is also unheated.
Coliva, (the one with the cross on it), it is a very old traditional dessert from the ancient period, of Orthodox Christian religious origin used to commemorate the departed. It is made from boiled wheat, with nuts, different essences such as rum, lemon, candy and so on. It is not a single grain of rice on it, only boiled wheat.
If you like to eat in the car, I can recommend Romanian cold food. Eggplant salad, Zacusca, Beef salad, Roasted peppers, Bacon with onion and palinca...

Koliva... is something we greeks take to church for memorial services.

could explain why there is a giant cross on it.

It's odd that they gave it to you.

Coliva is a "cake" old people make. We eat it at funerals or in the memory of the dead ones we loved. It is made out of boiled rice and different topings, including wallnuts.

Coliva indeed is a cake, a cake that's only made for funerals. My friends and me kept searching for a burial house that could make it for us as a leisure. We found one, it's extremely expensive, but it's damn good! It's boiled wheat with sugar, walnuts, ground walnuts, poppy seeds, rum aroma and even sometimes with milk, cocoa, with a ton o things, natural, healthy, PERFECT!

You need to eat those warm, not cold and not lukewarm. That ciorba de burta is cold, i can tell by how the top looks.
Is not the same taste. And that ciorba you add in it sour cream and bit of vinagre, by preference.

the soup was tripe soup. And it's supposed to be hot, the fat was congealed on top, that's why it was terrible. It's also a complicated dish, involving bone broth, similar to ramen, so there's a lot of things than can go wrong. The cake is a funeral cake (there's no rice in it, btw) - i really dislike that one, not because it's not good, but because it's only served on sad occasions.

In the soup was actually the pork belly skin, in Romania they don't put calamari in soup, and the coliva is served in sad occasion when someone from your family has died, and it's not rice it contains boild grain with sugar and coconut

Dude! Did you do a tour of the local cemetery and collect alms? That majestic cake alone is the most traditional funeral dish ever. I hope you're not a Muslim or a Hindu because those "calamari" are in fact beef tripe and the sarmale contain pork meat. Without any further ado, dig in! 🤣
