Five questions to ask yourself before speaking:
1. Am I speaking at the proper time, i.e., is the person I wish to address open and receptive for what I want to say.
2. Am I speaking truthfully?
3. Am I speaking gently not harshly?
4. Am I speaking beneficially, i.e. with the good intention to help the other person, and not harmfully?
5. Am I speaking out of love and compassion and not with inner hate?

Excellent advice! I have a suggestion for those who are dealing with controversy with someone. I overheard a supervisor speaking negatively about me with my direct coworkers one day, and it really hurt me and angered me.

I waited until the next day and went to work early so we could speak in private without "alerting" anyone that there was "drama" happening. Lol Anyway, I told her (in a calm/gentle tone), "This is what I heard, and this is how it made me feel. Please know that this is NOT a CONFRONTATION at all. It's just a CONVERSATION ."

She apologized and I replied "You're human. We all do things like that occasionally. I just wanted to know what your concerns are for me." She said she had no concerns. After our talk she thanked me and hugged me. I would call that a successful heart-to-heart talk. If I approached her with aggression or anger she would have "shut down" immediately and the conversation would have been pointless. 🤷🏼‍♀️

My gradma once said"When someone hits you, the pain fades quickly, but hurtful words stick with you forever."

It’s not what we say, but how we say it. My family has a way of speaking harshly, without realizing how they sound. It causes a lot of hardship and pain. Thank you for your videos!

wording to others especially to the loved one is very complicated and sensitive making me afraid if she could be hurt or she could hurt me like as much as I have done, I am able to be going to take it back, on that, recently I seem to have been afraid even to try to talk to her... through this lesson, hoping to advance and go through this issue to the better in the relationship. thank you for this lesson.

When i was young my grandfather always recited this poem to me "මහනෙල් සුවද මය
කුඩමසු පිළීගද මය
දෙකට එක විල මය
හොඳට නරකට දෙකට කටමය."
This was the only advice he repeatedly gave to me untill his last breath. And i am really grateful for his existence in my life❤
