There's absolutely no way she was the mother's favourite when the mother was so casual about killing her twice. The first time they thought she was dead, they didn't even say good bye, but when it was the sister in the line, they had a family meeting. The sister's reasoning, the MC's immediate forgiveness, and everyone being really causal about the mum's death are all really suspicious. Why was the sister still trying to kill her even after the mother's death? What's really going on?

Edit: gotta say the story is a bit rough this time, mom showed no sign of caring for your character more at all. Maybe if you had shown us their interactions before but even then still feels pretty OOC. Just take it as constructive criticism, still enjoyed it for what it was and looking forward to what comes next and the improvements you make
