What Blocks Can Mobs Not Spawn On? [1.17]

Hey guys, Wifies here! Today we will look at a full list of all the blocks that mobs cannot spawn on. I will also show a test that will help determine if a block is spawnable or not.

Note: In the nether, wither skeletons are the only mobs capable of spawning on wither roses (Very useful if you're making WIther skeleton farms in the nether)

and almost all from the "netural" group except crops(wheat etc) are spawnable

after the bee update I have mobs spawning on top of trees. Not an exposed wood block either, but the leaf blocks

So basically if it's a block with a flat surface at an integer Y-value, mobs can spawn on it. There are a few exceptions though, they include hoppers and soul sand, which do spawn mobs, and bedrock, glowstone, sea lanterns, glass etc., which don't.

I think mobs can spawn on trapdoors if the y value is a .00 y value. Like 56.00, or 100.00

Life hack: If your spawnproofing a place like a nether fortress, you can use a rail duper to make more rails until you don't need anymore spawnproofing. And lava doesn't break rails anymore.

mobs in overworld can spawn in *netherrack, * that is just what you need to know :)

mobs can spawn on wither roses they just die when they do obviously

I made a hoglin farm and they can spawn at any light level, so this was useful. I assumed they couldn't spawn on redstone lamps, but since it wasn't discussed in the video that must mean they can indeed spawn on them, explaining why i keep finding them outside the farm. However, I haven't had any hoglins spawn on the dispensers I have nearby. It's a line of dispensers with a line of glowstone 1 block up and to the right, and a line of redstone dust 1 block up and to the left. So maybe there's not enough room for them to spawn in that case.

People i believe this video CONSISTS OF BLOCKS THAT ARE UNSPAWNABLE. Anything not mentioned are spawnable. There are conditions and exceptions in this video

thank you for making this video. in my hardcore world i want to make a house in the snow but mobs spawn there and light melts the snow. i didnt know what to do but thanks to you i think i know

Buttons. Can they spawn on chests? Chests aren't a full block. What is the cheapest block for the nether? I'm thinking it's the path block as long as you have a silk touch shovel. I never see anyone using that though, it's always buttons or slabs (or if you're iskall85 (Hermitcraft season 7) you use gold pressure plates!!!)
