How to Stop Mobs from Spawning in Minecraft

In this Minecraft video, I show you all the ways to mob proof your base and stop monsters from spawning in survival or hardcore minecraft. There is not right way, it's just a matter of preference and what you think looks best!

It is true that mobs don't spawn on honey blocks, but hostile mobs still spawn on slime blocks!

Azalea does not block light. If you plant it on a farmland block 1 block lower than the ground with a torch adjacent (also 1 block down), it acts like a carpet that is flush with the surrounding blocks. No water needed for the farmland block!

I was just told by a mod in the bug report forms that hostile mobs have always spawned on ice and my brain is cracking. Hes saying zombies, creepers, endeemen, everything has always spawned on ice

So if I replace my entire floor of my 800x700 square box base with slabs, mobs shouldn't spawn on it? Or am I misunderstanding something.
