I feel old and I can't believe that it's been a decade since my favourite doctor left, I still weep at his regeneration, and I don't cry often

Matt Smith truly encompasses an old soul in a young body

Because The Doctor said, "Bow Ties are cool." So many time, I fully expected, at some point, he would yank it off and stick it to either a Dalek or a Cyberman and watch it suddenly freeze solid, after which he would say, "I told you Bow Ties are cool."

Eleven's "iconic moment" is basically what won me over to Matt Smith. Until then, I wasn't sure I liked him. His swagger and "I'm the Doctor. Basically....run..." just did it for me.

I’ve always really loved 11’s costume. I loved that it was relatively simple, but still so iconic. It also just feels, well, very Doctor Who, fitting very well in with both Classic and New Who Doctor costumes. Although, in canon, he picked out his outfit from the random clothes left by the employees of Rory’s hospital, it’s very well tailored, well put together, and effortlessly stylish, in a fun, hipster sort of way that fit with him being the youngest actor to portray the Doctor.
I’ve always felt like 11 and 4 would compliment each other on their outfits, with 4 telling him he needs a scarf and 11 saying he should try a bow tie 😄

Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor was my first! I had SO much fun during this era. My first Doctor, my first companions, I did my first cosplay and San Diego Con Con where I met the cast…So many memories attached to this era. I’d give anything to relive it!

I had no clue about the Eleventh Hour last minute change. The scene did feel somewhat out of nowhere, but it fit so well with selling me on Matt being a great choice to take over after David that I never really questioned it.

I love him, so much. My favourite Doctor and storytelling (for the most part).

I almost feel like ten had to face his past and his pain, while eleven actively attempted to avoid it and became more playful, while trying to forget. So, I do feel like the universe was kind of forcing him to actually deal with it, by constantly presenting him with himself, in some form. The end of his arc is him coming to terms with things, as well as his own mortality, with his regeneration speech acknowledging this.

11 also had a brush with the Master (later confirmed by Missy to have been her) in the bells of Saint John when Clara calls the computer helpline and some mysterious woman gives Clara the number for the TARDIS citing it to be the best helpline in the universe. The call is a small indirect interaction but it is an interaction nonetheless. Also with the bow ties being different depending upon the time period he is visiting is interesting, especially when you take into account the time vortex being colour coded in RTD’s original era

I have heard it claimed that Matt Smith was played by the Doctor (which is why he did so well)

I'm blown away that I've never noticed the bowtie rule!

I know that the majority of people have David Tennant as their favourite doctor, and I love him too, but Matt Smith has always been and will forever be my favourite doctor. There is something about his goofy personality and occasional serious moments that make me very happy while watching his episodes!

It was also Missy who gave Clara the TARDIS' phone number and so she played a role in her becoming a companion.

the bow tie being colour coded is quite funny seeing as in tennants era, the time vortex would change colour depending on whether the story was about the past or about the future. colour coding the vortex just like the bow tie was

My favourite doctor, he was so full of contradictions and extremes. Old, young, fun, frightening, smart, clueless . . . just wonderful.

Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor was my first and will always be my favorite Doctor. Because of that raggedy mad man in a box, I'm the Whovian I am today! Hope to see him run around with a bow tie, fez, sonic screwdriver, fish fingers and custard, and jammie dodger again hopefully in the 60th! "Geronimo!" 💙💙

He was by far my favorite modern Doctor. I really miss that era of the show.

First episode of Doctor Who I saw was The Waters of Mars... unsettling to say the least... Then a little while later I saw the Eleventh Hour, fell in love immediately.

Missy and Eleven would have absolutely killed together but I am glad we got her introduced with Twelve.

Maybe Smith's bow tie colour scheme was inspired by legendary pro-wrestler Ric Flair, who had his own system: red trunks if he was going to lose, blue if he was going to win. :D
