Canadian here, I have some more.


6. Natives weren't given full voting rights until 1960. (Previously they were required to prove that they had assimilated, and renounce any claims to their status as natives). The Inuit weren't given the right to vote until 1969.


7. There is a part of our constitution that allows literally any bill to override certain human rights and it has been used.


8. We practiced forced sterilization of Native women as recently as 2016.


9. There's been over 1, 000 Native women and girls who were kidnapped and murdered, and the government had stonewalled the investigation for years. Edit: The investigation has now completed, and they've issued recommendations, and have also called it a genocide.


10. A majority of Native reserves don't have access to clean water or electricity.


11. We still routinely club baby seals.
