The instant pot makes a FANTASTIC rice cooker if you do it right. My top 3 tips and a recipe for white rice in the instant pot will have you making perfect instant pot rice every time.

Ingredients
Jasmine Rice
Water

NOTE: The cup that came with the Instant Pot is a 3/4 cup, NOT 1 CUP.

Instructions
1. Remove the lid from your instant pot.
2. Make sure you have your rice-only silicone ring seated properly in the lid of the instant pot.
3. Remove the inner pot.
4. Add 2 cups (actually 1 and 1/2 cups if using a measuring cup) of jasmine (you can use any white rice you like) rice to the inner pot.
5. Cover the rice with water and swirl it around in a circular motion to agitate it.
6. Tip the inner pot over the sink carefully until the water begins to run out. When the water has just about stopped running out and the rice is about to reach the edge of the pot stop.
7. Repeat the fill, spin, and pour 2 more times.
8. Add 2 and 1/4 cups (Actually 1 and 3/4 cups if using a measuring cup) of water.
9. Plugin the instant pot.
10. Place your lid on the instant pot and turn it clockwise until you hear the music.
11. Make sure the toggle of the top is set to sealing.
12. Press the rice button.
13. Wait until the instant pot beeps to signal that it is done and turn the toggle on the top to venting.
14. Wait until all the steam has vented and turn the lid counter-clockwise to unlock it and open it.
15. Use your rice scooper to chop up, stir, and "fluff" the rice then serve.

Thanks for sharing. I noticed a lot of people don't keep the rice water. In SE Asia we usually keep the rice water and use it for watering the plants. It has some nutrients so it feeds the plants as well. Don't waste it.

Made a chocolate lava cake in my crock pot once (I know this is about pressure cookers). Learned that the crock pot absorbs the flavors of everything you cook. Beefy, porky, chicken-y chocolate lava cake was not good. Get extra silicone rings.

I use same ring and never had funky rice.

I use Binder Spring Clips and clip it to the lip of the Inner Pot, at top. Then position pot & clip to fit into slots where the lid would normally go into. The clip keeps the inner pot from turning while stirring or mixing, thereby cannot accidently burn fingers. Enjoy...

Looked kind of sticky and gooey compared to properly cooked stovetop cooked rice.

i use a electric pressure cooker i still need to test out more options but i rised my rice 2 times then i put some salt and fill it up with water that is 1'' inch over the rice then i cook it until the water is at a high boil for 2mins while stirring it then turn it off and put the lid on for 10mins then now remove the lid and remove it from the cooker and fluff the rice and it should look tasty also tip; better results if you don't make too much

I'm pleasantly surprised that someone else uses my water/rice ratio. I too add a 1/4 cup additional water. However, I do not rinse the rice. I toast the rice and seal the grains with a little oil like you do with a pilaf. This prevents the starches from exploding. My rice is never sticky or clumpy. My Instant Pot rice option defaults to 12 mins not 10. I wonder why. I go with the 12 mins and a slow release and the rice is perfect.

IF U RINSE UR RICE BEFORE COOKING, IT WILL RETAIN SOME OF THAT WATER SO U HAVE EXTRA ANYWAY.

Had never done it before, but I went ahead and rinsed my damn rice!

I'll give it a try, but if I fail I can always go back to my Japanese rice cooker. Rinse the rice in warm/hot water if you want it sticky.

Don't rinse you lose the sticky and the starch when you add you sauces to finish product

I want to try this one tonight. I have a different brand pressure cooker/rice cooker and can't ever figure out how I water it perfectly. After 3 days of experimenting, I finally seek help from YouTubers and your video is the one that is really making sense. So... can't wait to try it! Thank you for posting this.
