As an autistic person it is nice, in my opinion, to hear the audience applauding such a revelation, but Dan Aykroyd was actually first. And for anyone who wants to "correct" my use of identity-first language, I meant what I said.

I was diagnosed with mild Asperger's by a NHS psychiatrist at the age of 39. The questions I remember him asking were 'Were my parents hoarders?' & 'Do I like to look at buildings?' As a matter of fact, I do like to look at buildings & seems like all the older generation are hoarders. Not sure if that classes me as mild Aspergers, but OCD is a major problem & I should have given myself 4 days in Rome instead of a weekend. So much wonderful architecture that I missed.

think we've all known his communication style was different but it's nice he shared with everyone his difficulties. At the same time he has said a ton of "interesting" stuff on social media. Being a intelligent billionaire doesn't take away from any of that.

Again, it's not something you ''have'', it's the way you are from the start, in your genes themselves. Usually it's an inverse in the thoughts process, Elon Musk for example will likely construct things from the ground up in his mind, piece by piece until he builds a full picture of it, instead of imagining the whole picture and breaking that down into its basic components, (i know i do, and my interest in certain topics can be intense, leading me to learn many subjects and many things on those subjects, so long as i feel it's ''necessary'') -a fellow autistic

Asperger's wasn't officially recognized until 1993-1994.
The world unfortunately is not Asperger friendly. It was a difficult life growing up with Asperger's. But I believe the world is starting to understand it better...that is to say the positive side of it.

I have Asperger’s but it doesn’t hinder me really, socially it does a bit but it gave me a higher iq and an abundance of creativity I’m glad I have it tbh
