Live from New York, it’s Elon Musk. The tech mogul hosted “Saturday Night Live” this weekend and wasn’t afraid to get personal in his monologue, revealing that he has Asperger’s syndrome, a high-functioning condition on the autism spectrum. Social media was quick to point out that Elon actually isn’t the first person with Asperger’s to emcee “SNL” – former cast member Dan Aykroyd has long been public about his diagnosis and hosted the show back in 2003 – and that the term is considered outdated in the autism community. Despite the controversy, the 49-year-old appeared to have fun showing off his sense of humor and acknowledging that many found him to be an unconventional choice for the “SNL” stage.

The fact that he’s confident enough to make jokes about his condition in public is really satisfying. And that’s coming from someone who had Aspergers as well

"I'm actually pretty good at running human in emulation mode" -- that is spot on

I kinda figured from how he talks and interacts during interviews that he was on the spectrum

I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome. ADHD actually helps me with the social problems that come with Aspergers.

My son has Aspergers and I am so very happy he revealed this. I want to open and run a landscaping company that helps those on the spectrum and with other social and developmental disorders work in our community. I think we need more places for those with disabilities to work and develop the skills necessary to be gainfully employed.

You give a smart individual with aspergers the resources he needs and he'll change the world and that's always been evident by history.

As someone who has recently learned they suffer from Aspergers as an adult (for years I struggled externalizing my suffering) I can say this almost made me shed a tear. In one monologue any feelings of inadequacy went out the window. I’ve always been proud of my intellectual abilities. But being smart doesn’t always give you a green pass to fit in. I would never trade anything about my “syndrome” it makes me ME. only that the world would maybe see us as less “weird” and just different

My son struggles with ADD and Asperger's. When I see people like Elon Musk and Einstein it gives me hope that he has a bright future ahead of him with lots of support.

My baby has Aspergers and Adhd. He's very social and has eye contact, worked really hard on his ABA therapy which helped with social behaviors, sometimes he over-exaggerates gestures which is super funny and he loves doing it! ❤

People with Asperger's Syndrome, who were diagnosed with it long, long before the "term", actual DIAGNOSE, had it's named changed to ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), of course will still use the (name of) the diagnose they already had *if they wish too, * some of us live with the diagnose *for decades already, how stupid to criticize Elon on THIS. Very cool of him to be open about (t)his condition, * or you can say as well: (t)his way of being, as it effects literally EVERY PART of your life. The reason it is very cool of him that he does this, is that by doing so, he shows all other people with this condition that we are capable of great things, that we are not less because of being different. A lot of people do not understand people with autism and some even think that people with autism think they are "arrogant" when they are drowning socially, unable to socialize, actually really longing for it and feeling all the time like they are less worth than others, just because they are unable to do the things that are absolutely normal for anybody else. Don't feel less when you have autism, your unique way of thinking, that you have because of your autism, is worth a whole lot, actually it is, or at least it can be, a great advantage.

"Term is outdated"? Wtf... no its not. You can still get that diagnosis in Denmark at least. And I've heard of other places too.
