Exercise for free - Another way I look at this, a lot of things that people spend money on or pay other people to do basically have the sole outcomes of saving time and reducing physical exertion requirements. Then they buy a gym membership and spend time driving to the gym and working out at the gym. It doesn't actually make sense when you think about it. For example, you buy an expensive riding lawn mower so that you can cut your grass faster, and once you're done cutting the grass, some of your extra time that day is spent going to the gym. Why not just use a cheaper push mower, spend the hour cutting your lawn, and appreciate that you just did an hour of medium intensity cardio? You're being so much more efficient and saving money in multiple ways all at once. When you think about things, there are *tons* of examples like this where if you stop thinking about how hard something is to do and start thinking about it as free exercise, suddenly you are much happier choosing the cheaper option and getting exercise at the same time.

Cooking from scratch is the best step to be the chef of the family ❤ with healthy ingredients and not using whatever they call "instant microwave"...

I use paper towels only to mop up grease. I usually only buy two paper towels rolls a year. I do reuse jars, I have a portable washing machine and the water from the wash and rinse I toss on my lawn and plants instead of draining in the sink unless it's been raining, i dry outside on a clothes line, i use solar powered generators with lights at night and have rechargeable LED motion lights in and around house so I don't have to turn on lights in hallways and bathrooms. I also have rechargeable fans that can be recharged via the sun. I do make my own meds and cook from scratch but i still buy cleaning supplies.

A pitcher of ice tea is inexpensive and a great drink with meals or an afternoon break. Add a little fruit juice if you have it for a change.

The biggest thing the older ones did was to save money for purchases, even a house. No interest, no rent and save thousands a year. They also only bought within their budget. My parents paid cash, then Dad, a carpenter, added extra needed rooms through the years. To this day, I despise remodeling, because I grew up with sawdust and the noise of hammers.
