Pitfalls of raising young children, the unaffordable cost is painful....

My father worked for 30 years in a factory. My mother was a stay at home mom. They raised 6 children, bought a two story house, had a reliable car, and we took a 2 week family vacation every year. That's what I called living the American Dream. A Buck was worth a buck back then.INFLATION is what is killing most people today that play by the rules . Mom and dad's are both working, nobody is home to raise the children, it's turned into the American nightmare., !!!

I have 2 boys, 5 years old and almost 1.

Daycare is BY FAR the worst part about parenting. During the pandemic it was even worse as we had to pay for 4-5 months of daycare thay we never even received otherwise we would have lost our spot at that Daycare.

It currently tly costs $300 a week for our baby and the hours of 7:30 to 4:45 aren't even long enough for one of us to work a full day.

To all you who are contemplating children, make sure you have Daycare squared away before getting pregnant. I thought we'd had some regular family help but we get no scheduled help and minimal help even when we are in a bind.

If something doesn't change with the Daycare problem in this country then fertility rates are going to really drop off.

I support a family of 5 with one income doing landscaping and irrigation. We aren’t financially wealthy but I bought a home in 2018 and my life is actually fulfilling.

Young folks better not have kids especially with states closing schools. A district in TX just closed 3 or 5 elementary schools and more are to come in other states. The only options you will have for your kids is to PAY for school because there will only be charter schools or homeschool them. It’s best NOT to have kids now.

We all must be doing something wrong with our income budgets and work ethics.
Early Retirement Guru Sarasota Tim has bought himself 2 new vehicles costing approx. $100Gs and a new RV just this year alone with his early retirement SSI and YouTube income. Shops at Walmart daily. His viewers are throwing money at him and offering free stays at their homes and properties.
Now he's discovered and eyeing up how he can live in The Villages with all those fun-loving Seniors
Meanwhile the rest of us are listening and experiencing The Gloom & Doom News.
Where did we go wrong?

I do agree with the 1 commenter about hard times living through 2 financial crises. Most live through 1. And we have had to in 15 years. Both created by our government to transfer wealth and power to the top and government.
Saying that, think nationally or globally for opportunities and resources.

Those who go to Starbucks aren't thinking straight.
Take a thermos of Maxwell House with you out the door.
Do the math. See how much you save each month.

I never wanted to be a father (so I didn't) and I never wanted to be "held down" by owning a home. So now I'm 67, collecting
my full Social Security, with NO debt and good savings, living fine in The US. However, I'm ready for a change, so I'll be
moving to Cambodia mid next year, where I can live VERY well, not have to even touch my savings, and still save
approx. $20, 000 every year. I'm waiting until next year to move, because I have A LOT of Gold & Silver, and I
expect it to increase in value (markedly) in the next several months, so I don't want to miss all that profit
by selling it at current values.

It would be wild if birth rates declined in the United States during the next four years. 🤔
