I filmed this the same day Rainman Ray, s Repairs posted a video about brake pad grease. Long story short Ray brought up some good facts.

So I archived this video in my drafts and forgot about it.

So here it is
What’s your opinion about greasing brake hardware, pads, and slides?

I haven’t seen any problems in Texas (yet), I really think is a proportion thing. A little is ok but too much has reverse effects. I also think the brake pad material plays a major role too

I grease mine and they should be serviced annually to make sure the pads are wearing down evenly and the guide pins aren’t stuck.

Some will say that it causes dirt to build up but if you’re servicing it once a year it shouldn’t be a problem.

Very helpful to service them once a year in areas where snow and rust is common because pads like to get stuck on the carrier.

@baja-ha Looks like you installed the wear indicator up side down. Typically it is installed on the inner pad facing upwards. Manufacturers do differ from make to make though..

Depends. I grew up in florida and there you have no snow and its all highway in the bigger cities. Here in oklahoma the snow and dirt roads and stuff like that change the way you have to take care of your stuff.

My pet peeve is whenever I see people using Anti-Seize all over the brakes including the sliders. Some manufacturers say you shouldn't use anything because I guess they are worried about brake contamination
