You remind me of the Ice King from Adventure Time.

this guy kicks ass, he's alot more interesting and easier to understand than other people on youtube who offer car advice.

yes, warped discs do that all the time and those babies come with pretty cheaply made ones that often warp. Also check the brake dust backing shield, they can bend then do that when turning

Stang was mine for a week, on loan from Ford. Vette is a customer's car that sat for 16 years in a garage.

i know an old timer that knows how to fix any vechicle. from wilson, nc. he knows it all. but he lacks sales. the best mechanic i ever met. he doesn't give it away from the start. he knows everything about any vechicle. you just have to sit down a while and listen.

Thank you Scotty, i used a piece of sandpaper on my rear brake pads and brake drum, no squeaking brakes anymore.

Thanks for this video Scotty! Straight to the subject matter as always. My drums were starting to squeak on a car I recently bought. I thought the pads needed to be changed but I'm going to take the drums in to have them resurfaced. Hopefully solves the problem.

Your fans appreciate you!

Merry Christmas from California!

Yes, change them to ceramic, normally they will make no noise, but if they do, then you will have to replace the rotors also.

spiral makes less noise, discs with grooves are for racing, they cool down faster, but make more noise and wear out faster.

that's why you check with your model first. whatever pads it originally came with, best to stick with them. If organic, use that. If metallic, use that. If ceramic, use that.

any worn suspension part can knock, or a loose brake part too. Jack it up and pull on the wheels and check for suspension play first

if it seized, you would stop really poorly when backing up fast and slamming on the brakes. Pull the drums off and check to see if they are sticking on from cylinders binding

Just a suggestion (I'm also aware how old this vid is, but for any new people trying to stop squeal). - with rotors and pads, Lube the ears/contact points on the brake pad with hitemp rubber grease where it will be touching in the caliper. Bendix blue is good stuff. This creates a barrier between the two bits of metal alleviating squeal. With solid calipers (Like brembo calipers) Don't forget to grease the pins and spring clip/tensioning hardware where it's touching the pins etc as well! Obviously don't go getting it all over the friction material, and I'd avoid putting it on the backplate where the piston touches, but should help a bunch!
Oh, Ceramic pads are great, but there are really good semi-metallic compounds as well. Its going to come down to application! You wouldn't go putting a dense semi-metallic heavy duty pad in grandmas Hyundai getz, but that pad would be good for heavy vehicles/taxis etc.
Anyways - Love these vids, Even if I'm late to the party 😂

Thank you for the break down! I took my car to Firestone to get the breaks replaced along with a few other things. It was expensive so I took it there so I could use my card that I had with them. My breaks came back squeaking like crazy! I read up on it and thought it was because they were new and were breaking in. That it would eventually stop… lol wrong.

6 months later. Still squeaking. I took my car to my actual mechanic for other issues and when I got it back they no longer squeaked. I forgot to mention that to him but he fixed the problem anyway, didn’t mention it to me or charge me for it. 🥺 I almost always find some little surprise fix after I get my car back from him.
I started researching to make sure he didn’t have to do too much extra work to fix my breaks. I would’ve gladly paid him for it given the opportunity. :) It’s so nice for the first time in months my A/C works and the breaks are quiet. 😭❤️

just depends on how you drive, pull off the brakes and check thickness, if still thick, ignore it, my wife's toyota does that a little too and it means nothing if pads are thick

I put the Duralast cMax pads you were showing on my wife's Ford Escape and they are an excellent product. No dust, no squeaks, and they perform very well.
