The sound ŋ is a voiced nasal consonant sound in English. As with other sounds in English, it doesn't always match the spelling of words! Watch this video to find out more about the British English pronunciation of the sound ŋ.

English pronunciation does not follow English spelling. The English alphabet has 26 letters, but the phonetic alphabet (used for pronunciation) has 44 sounds. This series will demonstrate the English phonetic alphabet, letter by letter, with clear examples and advice on how to pronounce each individual sound. This video shows how to pronounce 'ng' as in ring, which is the phonetic sound ŋ .

I speak with a British English Accent and explain things clearly to make it easy for anyone to understand.
