10 Most Dangerous Venomous Spiders In The World

From the sneaky spider that likes to hide in clothes piles to the most deadly spider in Australia, here are 10 of the most venomous spiders in the world!

10: The Brown Recluse
The brown recluse spider, sometimes called the fiddleback, brown fiddler, or violin spider is perhaps one of the most well-known spiders in the United States of America, it’s also one of the deadliest. You may not notice if you got bit at first, the bite may only look like a small pimple or reddening blemish.

9: Brazilian Wandering Spider
The Brazilian wandering spider is also known as the banana spider, because they are frequently found on banana leaves. There have even been some anecdotal reports of these spiders arriving in North America on shipments of bananas from South America.

8: Black Widow
Probably the most infamous spider on the list, the black widow is allegedly responsible for at least 2,500 visits to venom control centers each and every year in the United States alone. It's the most dangerous spider in Canada, and it can be found throughout the US and Latin America.

7: Brown Widow
Believe it or not, there are actually a few different types of widow spiders. A brown widow's bite is oftentimes less severe than a black widow bite because they tend to inject less venom. The venom from a brown widow is about twice as potent as venom from a black widow but they don't produce as much.

6: Red Widow
The red widow spider is the final type of widow spider that we're going to talk about today. It's also known as the red-legged widow. The body of this spider is a bright reddish-orange color, while the abdomen is solid black accompanied by yellow rings that outlined red spot rows. The legs have a vermillion red complexion.

5: Wolf Spider
Wolf spiders are some of the most widespread spiders throughout the entire world. Many people think they got their name because of their likeness to wolves, being brown and kind of hairy. But they actually got their name because of the way they hunt.

4: Sydney Funnel-Web Spider
You can recognize these spiders by the front part of their body being sparsely haired and glossy or shiny looking. Funnel-web spiders vary in length from 1 - 5 cm(10-50mm). Not all species are dangerous, although several have been known for highly toxic, fast-acting venom, and the sydney funnel-web spider is without doubt the most dangerous spider in all of Australia.

3: Yellow Sac Spider
The yellow sac spider lives throughout the United States and Mexico, and all the way into South America. These spiders are light yellow to pale yellowish green, sometimes with an orange-brown stripe on top of the abdomen. They are terrifying for one very serious reason - they are almost always found inside!

2: Redback Spider
The redback spider is actually the cousin of the black widow spider, though it's not quite as prevalent throughout the world. The redback is of course native to Australia, but throughout the years has found its way to New Zealand and even Japan through the export of grapes!

1: Daddy Longlegs
You have probably heard people claim that the daddy longlegs is the most venomous spider in the world. And guess what, it’s more complicated than it seems. The typical claim is that the venom from the daddy longlegs spider can kill a man in minutes, but their fangs are too small to penetrate human skin.

The six-eyed sand spider has a highly potent venom that there’s no anti-venom for if bitten not on the list. The spiders listed at 9 and 4 are more dangerous and lethal than any of other species listed here. They should be ranked in the top 2 or 3 at least for the 27 deaths before ant-venom

I've been bitten by a yellow sac spider. It burned so bad. I had a huge bruise that lasted forever. The itching was the worst. I made benadryl paste with a bandaid on top.

I was bite on the back of my shoulder working on plumbing under my house. I was so sick I didn’t think I’d make it driving back from a pharmacy. I knew I was bit the next day . I had two dang marks. The infection is called cellulitis. It spread on my back larger than my hand and oozed infection and I had to tape sanitary pads on my back and change and was four times a day and was given a strong antibiotic. I was lucky as my care for the infection and constant 4xs a day cleaning it didn’t necrotized and today I have no scar from it. I was very lucky and I really think it was because I push out infection 4xs a day and cleaned it. Yes it was very painful but it worked.

This is a good list, but i would have loved for our Australian white tailed spider to make the top 10, can't win them all, but at least we got some of our spiders in there

There are several species of Black Widows as well as Brown Widows, and that Australian Red Back spider. The one common factor among them is with the exception of the Brown, but not always the Hour glass red marking on the belly, in some widows the hour glass is complete and in others the 2 triangles dont quite meet. All widows are in the family Latrodectus.

I have gone through 58 major surgeries but the worst pain and the sickest I have ever been was from a brown recluse bite. I had sat down on my deck late one night when I was too warm to sleep and unknownly put my leg down right on top of the spider. Ended up in hospital for an extended stay with a baseball size ulcer on my leg. The ulcer eventually healed but I still have a crater larger than a golf ball.

I'm not sure what bit me but it was insane. I put on a pair of my grandma's old boots and got a litte blister that turned into a huge one filled with pus. The inside of my whole leg hurt if touched. Went to the doc and he gave me meds. The blister came back over the next 4 years until I went to a specialist and he scraped my foot

Number 2 comment: The Redback spider is less venomous than the Funnel Web spider. Now a days it's very rare that people end up in intensive care or dead from a Redback bite. The anti-venom has been around in Australia from along time, and not all those bitten by a Redback get sick. While the Funnel Web is rated as no: 2 or 1, depending on the different internet sites. You need to get the anti-venom or you won't survive that bite. Interesting fact is that the Funnel Web spider was originally found on Sydney's north areas. As a kid living in the southern suburbs we were very glad of that. They like being around pools too, some people used ducks to protect themselves from the spiders. Ducks and many animals are not bothered by the Funnel Web. Life in Australia gets very interesting at time. We even have song about " Redback on the toilet Seat Last Night". 😁😁

I would advise to be careful with any spider. Once I got bitten by the tiniest jumping spider, smaller that my pinky nail and my forearm had shooting pains for 30 minutes. What was trippy was how tiny it was a it still did some damage. Also people react differently to the same spider bite.

Wolf spiders are not generally dangerous to humans. Their venom may cause some symptoms but they are non-fatal. Why would wolf spiders be #5 on the list when black widow spiders are #6 and are WAY more venomous/dangerous. I don't understand the order these spiders are in.
If how venomous the daddy long legs spider is, is "just a myth" why is it #1 on this "most venomous spiders" list? Why is it on this list at all?

No doubt and no video on my end. It’s a really cool commentary and teaching. Thanks
