I Used an OLED Ultrawide Gaming Monitor for 30 Days...

Many of you might be tempted by all the new OLED Ultrawide gaming monitors hitting the market. But how do they perform in day-to-day life like gaming, curve amount, OLED brightness, and productivity tasks? Here are my thoughts and experiences after 30 days of testing.

Thanks for putting this video together, it takes a lot of time and work to do them I know.

I came from a 32” 2560 x 1440 and really liked it. It was clear and the pixels were close enough that text was clear. I thought that the 3440 x 1440 would be similar … nope. Much more space between pixels. Not a problem for me when gaming and sitting back from it but I need a monitor to do production and gaming. The screen is just not clear enough for my eyes. I’m in the 60 years plus club so my eyes are older and I don’t know what it looks like with younger eyes so your review was interesting to me. I thought of using one of these for gaming and my old one for production, but I don’t have that kind of space on my desk and wasn’t going to purchase a new desk to accommodate a monitor.

My final solution was to get the Samsung 4K 32” OLED (G80SD) driving it with a 4080 Super that I already had. It is crystal clear and easy to see with amazing colors. It is very thin making it fit my desk better than my previous monitor. It does both gaming and production amazingly well. It can also be set to 21:9 aspect ratio and 3440 X 1440 resolution so if I want the experience of wide screen view, I just pull the monitor closer to me and and game on. It’s not the same as having the screen curve but it’s pretty good. For me, it’s the perfect solution.

My wife liked my monitor so well she asked me to get her one to use with her Mac. She does no gaming.

There should be an SDK tool for various game engines, so the UI/HUD elements can be adjusted easily to fit the aspect ratio of the monitor. This would make the life of game developers somewhat easier.

just got the 34 inch 240hz version of this model from LG and it’s been incredible so far. Also, 3440x1440 is great for 34 inch but for 45 inch that is very questionable

I caved in and got the new samsung g80sd, outside some software issues I am very happy with it, text clarity isn't horrible not fantastic either but not enough to be a large issue for me.

I have a question. After MUCH research I was unable to conclude this... which monitor would you recommend in 27" 1440p 120Hz (or more) with thunderbolt 4 (basically, I want a future proof gaming monitor which can be used as a display and power for my MacBook Pro). My budget is under 500 bucks if possible.

I have last year's version and I'm absolutely in love with it. It may not be the best for productivity but the sheer size and immersion it provides is unmatched for gaming even against my 4K LG C2 42 and MSI 321URX.

That curve is just way too much and a complete deal breaker for me, something more sensible like 1200-1600R would have been OK.

Monitor look good but my question is how perform for productivity task? Gaming is not big deal for me but I do love the side.

45inch with wqhd resolution seems unreasonable. Especially for the price. It should be at least 5k2k resolution.

Nice video, like all of the videos u post... BUT... i think the title is a little disorientating. Due to the fact that this is a gaming monitor, i think the title should be "Could This Be The BEST "GAMING" Monitor For 2024", cause for some of us that are designers, i think this one will not serve our needs and title should be different... what do u think?
BTW will u make a video for a best designer's display?
