I use a 48 inch OLED too. Fiiirst, you need a 80 cm (31 inch) desk for a 48" or a 60 cm (23 inch) desk for a 42". Second, you need a monitor with the lowest possible feet, idealy one with two small feet. Third, you need to remove that shelf, the eyestrain would come from the monitor being too tall, so you want it as low as possible.

Been daily driving this thing for months tried a few other OLED ultrawides and I keep coming back to this and it comes in at under $1, 000 these days I think it's the best monitor nobody knows about

When my old monitor died, I hooked up my 40" TV to my PC and now use that, instead. My experience matches yours in that it takes getting used to, and you will find yourself wanting some distance from the screen. That said, I am now used to having an "oversized monitor, " and I do not think I can ever go back to an "itty-bitty screen." Were I to replace my current setup, I would probably go with a 48-inch monitor.

48" 16::9 is like having 4x 24" monitors. I have been using mostly 3, 4 and 6 monitors for 20 years in various 3x1 or 3x2 (3 over 3) setups. Right now I'm running 1x49 32:9 over 2x24" 16:9 and going to a single 48" 16:9 seems like a fairly good setup. I regularly need 2-3 monitors and 2x24" monitors are too small physically when you look at the amount of time I spend zooming in and out or leaning in.... There are a lot of window arrangements what would benefit from a 48" (effectively 2 over 2 24" monitors), i.e. 21:9 sized window on top with 2 'wings' to put references and/or 2x16"9 on the bottom.

Im torn between a 43 inch and a 48 inch. Strickly for music production. Because the LG 43 inch Ultra fine monitor is around the same price as this. Bc this is on sale for 700$

If the screen puts that much strain on your eyes, it's just way too bright...
keep in mind that manufacturers assume a certain distance, if you get closer to what the pixel density of today's screens allows, then you should reduce the brightness and saturation a bit

I did the same for myself and I'm sitting here in front of 5 monitors, 1x40" and 4x 32" and you notice very quickly when it's too bright

I've been an avid multi-monitor-er since the early 00s. I have never needed glasses...

I bought two different 43 inch IPS monitors - Phillips BDM4350UC - which made my eyes very sore and blurry within days. Blue blocking glasses only helped a bit... but after a few months, I stopped using this as I like being able to see.

Then I bought an Acer 43 inch IPS monitor which was 10x better than the Phillips one, meaning, I could work 8+ hour days with it, and it was tolerable, but then with high use over time during the pandemic, even with every kind of blue blocking glasses/colour setting/app, I noticed my eyesight were getting strained. I wondered if due to age, I might end up needing glasses... yet this made no sense, as I'd always had multiple monitors without issue.

So I retrieved by my BenQ BL3200 PT VA Panel - and since then haven't worn blue blocking glasses at all, and I have not had any eye/vision issues at all. My eyesight is notably better than it had been during my Acer days. So I'd be wary of eye strain, because it might actually mean, eye harm.

Thank you. Your review answered my question. I'm sticking with my 34" UW.

Next up: turn your entire wall into a monitor

The ergotron does in fact support the whole weight of the monitor though you just need to tighten it with the Allen key provided I've had zero issues with mine swinging around moving it up moving it down

I'm using a 48" LG C1 for exactly 1 year now, I was planning to use FancyZones to split it into multiple "virtual screens", but soon realized that this means that I can't use fullscreen mode in any app anymore to still see other stuff next to it. Now I'm using it exactly as I used my single 27" before, single apps in a maximized windows or stuff like YouTube and Games in fullscreen.

I really want to try multi monitors instead next because I just can't change my habits, I can't stand window borders when playing in zones, or even worse watching videos with the YouTube UI around it.

There are some awesome 38" and 43" options in the 4K 16:9 format. I think these are really good options. They are big, but will still fit on many desks without a lot of trouble. 48 seems a bit much and you'd have to sit back further.

I've landed on 2 x 32" 4K for max productivity. I went from 3 x 24" 1080P to 1 x 40" 4K many years ago and loved it. Tried 50" and 43" 4K and they are usable but 40" was better for a single monitor setup. I think 38" 4K monitors are starting to show up now, which should also be good for a single monitor setup. 48" is OK but not very sharp when you are acclimated to 32" 4K. 28" 4K is a low as you should go though. It is usable but not as comfortable to my eyes at native resolution with no scaling.

What about text clarity & pixel layout issues on LG 48GQ900-B. There are a lot of people in the web complaining of headaches after working with text on this monitor. And the problem isn't the distanse to the monitor, it's text clarity

My 2 cents

2x27 1440 especially Dell

-Price
-Greater estate
-Unit separation -good when one breaks
-Unit separation - you can adjust bightness individually so there is less light streaming in your face.
-Bezel argument is pointless for productivity, even with 42 there will be line in the middle and you will look at side, I do not even have problem with bezel when I use laptop as side,
sometimes I seek escuses and lie to myself that working on big screen will be more productive, but then you buy it and see that nothing changed after initial hype. Just take a break.
-I prefer one monitor in front for input and active use and one on the side for reading docs, and the angle can be adjusted how it fits you so for me it is even better than curved.
-Transport is much easier, I travel 4x a year to live in other place and bringing monitor in suitcase is great plus.

Big screen looks great but pros are mostly arguments people repeat after salesman, Having a wall of pixels is distracting af, the less windows in front face the more actual work is done.

I think if you run windowed, you could shift it once a hour or half an hour to prevent burn in, hence the benefit of a bigger size

What's the point in getting such a large monitor if it forces you to sit 4+ feet away from your desk. Bigger is not always better.

The underdesk tray sounds like a great idea.
