After all, modern military is rather underpowered in most anime’s.

My comrades fell to my left and right and I heard not but sharp wind graze passed my ears. It was not long before I would join them on the ground. Pain encompassing my entire body. I looked up for a moment to find a small hole in my armor. No arrow...nothing. Only a sharp pain in my side. My comrades charged forward at my lords command. Only for them to meet the same fate as the others. The thundering only grew louder as more of their weapons bellowed around me. I tried to crawl away to safety as blood began to stain the earth below only to hear the thunder following the lightning. A group of my fellows were launched into the air along with mounds of dirt and blood. Followed by another...and another. I fear I would have been next, but God must have taken pity on me that day. I crawled as far as I could, retreating as my fellows rushed forward. I felt faint and only saw darkness.

The battle felt like it lasted hours, but only a short time had passed. By the time I awoke I found myself in a soft bed and the chirurgeons tending to others. They had recounted me what had happened on that field of battle. Mountains of corpses, oceans of blood. Many lost on only one side and my Lord slain. I was a loyal man and in my dying days, I have had many a day to reflect on that battle...Did my Lord betray us and send us like lambs to the slaughter? Were we just pawns in some kind of sick game? Who were those men we were fighting? I fear I'll never know these answers. I place myself in the hands on God and pray that I may meet my Lord in the heavens above and find the answers I seek."

Realistically magic or a freaking sword can’t stop an organized and well trained modern military force. It’s great to see an anime that actually follows some logic.
