What is fascinating with weaponry is that everything was created as a counter the other persons weapons/tactics. They have spears we have bows. They have rifles we have machine guns. We have laser guided bombs and nukes because several thousand years ago one caveman's spear was slightly longer than the other's.

One thing I love about this anime is how they don’t treat the medieval people stupid. The emperor was the one who attacked in the first place who didn’t know how advance Japan was and after seeing one of their soldiers take out groups of his best guards, he doubles-down and understands the situation and pushes for a compromise. Really hope this awesome anime gets a third season soon

I love the king in this scene. He sees his enemies slaughter his soldiers like nothing and his expression is "yup sounds about right". And goes on to do kingly things. That guy is a realist.
