Holley Sniper 2 EFI Comparison on Big Block Ford 460

Its no secret that the 70's and 80's were heavy on air restriction in and out of these big blocks, but today we see if swapping out that factory intake manifold really makes a difference. Then, we go further and see if updating from the factory 600cfm Holley to a more modern Sniper 2 EFI fuel injection is worth the cash, in terms of a questionable 0-60 app on my phone and "seat of the pants" feeling when I mat the skinny pedal to the floor.

I think atomize is the word you were looking for.

Hello Art, nice show..
Couple of "IMO'S"..
MAYBE, get a racing harness for your significant other, instead of the bungee cord🤔😁
When you said you had 45° or 50° F... Well @ 02:10 this morning I had... Wait for it... -64°F, so now @ 20:05 hrs it's about -60° F, so heating up.

It's going to be way nicer driving with all that below 5k torque! Great job!

Put some DOVE-C heads on, with a good cam (Lunati Voodoo cam 262) you got yourself good runner.. plus the Weiand Stealth intake manifold is a good intake. Great video, much respect 👍👍

You said about the temp under the bonnet. That air cleaner is sucking in hot air which is not good for efficiency. Build yourself a 5" cold air duct from the throttle body to an area at the front (forward of the radiator) and let the engine access colder air. Then do a time comparison.

Thanks for the video. I've driven carb'd cars a huge chunk of my life and never had any issues and switching to aftermarket electronic parts makes me nervous. Especially cause if something ever does come up I can go to any auto parts store and pick up a rebuild kit for Edelbrock and Holley carbs off the wall. I want to be able to control timing, idle speed when A/C is on, and electric fans. EFI itself to me is whatever, but all the extras you get once you switch over is what appeals to me.

I run an Eddy AVS2 off road carb on my 460. I have run both Holey and regular Edelbrock carbs and like the AVS2 much better. Gained almost 1 mpg and great low end tq smooth off idle. With my F-250 4x4 high boy with 8600 GVW and 2k# camper I want to go slow on rough terrain. I thought about the Sniper but so far the AVS2 off road carb has operated flawlessly and I could not justify the cost. So far I have not seen a mpg comparison with the Sniper. I use an Edelbrock intake manifold and the cast iron one is buried for the federals to metal detect and dig up looking for lost guns. Thanks for the video tho'. BTW I am a survival type and in the event of an EMP from a nuclear war that destroys all electronics then I can install the points dizzy and mechanical voltage regular to operate my truck; both items are stored in an ammo can along with spare parts..

Engine oil . You should review Lake Speed Jr. YT channel on engine oil and any type of additives. As an engine oil expert he dispels a lot of myths and interweb bs. He is against any oil additives. Especially zinc. His data analysis shows use correct oil, and oil maker protection package is not to be messed with. He is a proponent of fuel additives.

The weight savings an aftermarket performance aluminum intake is significant, saving weight plus the better airflow characteristics is grand. I will never swap from carburetor to EFI. I probably will swap the old Ford Cobra head EFI on my '90 F250 to the 460EFI guys setup. I would prefer to convert the EFI to a good aftermarket dual plane performance intake and run a Predator carburetor and expect far better all around performance with the stock heads and camshaft.

Hey, Art. I love your sense of humor and antics. Made watching the series extremely fun. I have last episode to go where 'something broke...' to watch. Hoping I'm not going to die of a broken heart. Oh, I hope you're planning on putting some real seatbelts in there?? You're kinda fun and would like to see more from you.

If you thought that 460 intake is heavy, try picking up a intake off a FE 360/390 motor and if you tie a shop rag on the hood latch it will help soften the blow lol 😂 cool truck I had a 65 step side 352 4spd wish I could have kept it.

Well done on the video! You are entertaining to watch and the video quality is great. I just purchased a sniper two for my 79K 10 squarebody with 500 hp blueprint 400 crate engine. This should be a great improvement over the Edelbrock 1406 that’s on there now. I’m also in the high elevation desert and I’m sick of dealing with cold start and changing carburetor issues. I need to figure out how to do the fuel system and return line since I have dual tanks. Apparently You must run a return line, if I didn’t have to do that. It would be easy.

I would love to put the Holly EFI setup on my Capri but can’t justify that much money right now. Love the truck and your videos. Thanks for doing what you do!
