Your videos have been amazing for a first-builder like me. Unlike other channels, you explain the part selection process in understandable terms, instead of throwing big words and letters around.

It's bad luck not to have a black cat in a video.

I was aiming for 5800x3d but 13600k blew 5800x3d in most aspects. Lower power draw on gaming than 5800x3d, higher power draw by 33% on productivity But it's 50% faster. So it's a good trade. It even run structural computation COMSOL (I'm a civil engineer) nearly twice faster than 5800x3d.

And value wise, the platform cost is almost the same with ddr4. As a value builder Intel really won this time imo. 7000series forcing ddr5 is a big reason to leave amd and go for intel this year.

I was amd fanboy but the pandemic made me realize every brand is evil LOL. Made me realize to not be a fanboy and just get the good tech with good value!

this video is highly relevant to my interests! either later this month for the black friday deals or next month for the xmas season i plan on a 13600 + 3080 + ddr5 build. with a $2000-$2400 budget i have been figuring out which case/mobo/cpu cooler to go with. (edit: as well i am not sure if i want to piece it together myself or order a prebuilt, thus the variance in budget) thanks for the content, i am eating it up right now!

This was the exact video I was waiting for. I am doing my first build and was going to buy 12600k but I couldn't justify for the price. This just reiterate my thoughts. Pulled the trigger on a 13600k after watching. Also helped me on my choice for psu. Was going to get a 6800xt paired with this CPU so I was going to get 850 but this has opened my mind to a full 1000 watt psu.

The last desktop PC I built had a i7-3930K. It will be nice to see what a modern machine can do. Almost went with DDR5, but upon comparing price and benchmarks, DDR4 still made sense.. Especially since I'm looking to max out the memory 128GB. Thanks for the info.

7:00 The best advice I've heard. A slap of reality that I don't need to jump to DDR5. Thanks Jason! I'll probably need your advice again soon (boost my pc build).

My i5-9600K was struggling to max out my 3070 in a lot of situations. And the 1% low fps was not always good. The turning point was Spider-Man Remastered where the 9600K was loading the GPU below 70%. Last week, I upgraded my system for a 13600K. Now, in every games and situations, the 13600K is maxing out the 3070. And it's so much smoother.

For anyone looking fot this kind of combo, I strongly recommend going with DDR5. I bought a cheap 5200 CL38 kit from XPG. I will probably recycle it in another system in 1 or 2 years so I can buy a better kit at a reasonable price.

I disagree with the b660 mb, there are a few that are around 100$ less than the cheapest z690 and z790 that can easily handle this cpu, also nowadays overclocking is not worth it and overclocking this CPU better that what turbo boost can do is pretty hard even with some experience. The only reason I would recommend a z690 o z790 is because of more PCI lanes and USB, but even like that, premium b660 mb that cost the same as entry level z690 or z790 usually have the same specs on ports and PCI but premium b660 have more features like premium audio, wifi, Bluetooth. I like your videos since you always make good recommendations, but this time I think you made a huge mistake with b660 mb

Just a quick note, you really want the Gigabyte z690 Gaming X (V2). Its about $10 more if you can find it and its MUCH more stable for RAM over 3600 and has even better VRMs. V2 easily does DDR4000 cl16 where as the non V2 is not stable over 3600 which is why a V2 was sneakily released!

Great recommendations here apart from the PSU field of the 1000-1200W recommendations.

Can we get a "best cases for 2022" video? For me, cases are a tough one, some have better airflow, some are better for modding, others are simply just good looking... Given the quality of your videos, It would be great to see your opinion on some of your favorite PC cases for 2022.

Hi Jason, I'm doing my own prebuild myself and really appreciate pointing out that what ever i513600k or 1300kf is cheaper. Saved me about 25.00. Thanks for all the value you put into your videos!

is b660m A-wifi motherboard enough for i5-13600k and rtx4070ti???

Did a build around this chip and a 3080ti/DDR5. I'll just say, be careful about what z690 board you buy, as unless you have access to a 12th gen Intel chip, make sure you have Bios flashback. I had an Asus Tuf Gaming z690 that I had to take to a local computer store because my comp wouldn't boot into Bios since it couldn't recognize the CPU. Just a heads up for anyone looking to save on a Z690 and go 13th gen intel.

The "k" variant is often $10 or less in additional cost to the non-k. Just get the K. If you ever have a GPU issue, with a K, you can troubleshoot and limp along. Without the k, you are dead in the water.
