However, consuming too much salt can lead to negative health effects. Excessive salt intake can increase blood pressure, which can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. Additionally, consuming too much salt can cause water retention and bloating. It is recommended that adults consume no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium per day, which is about one teaspoon of salt.

My husband and I stopped going out to eat and no fast food. Suddenly vegetables started tasting sooo delicious that I craved them. My dr suggested it was because I cut so much salt out of my diet that I could finally taste the natural foods I was now eating. Amazing!

WILSON!

So, I had paused the video when you said to leave a comment with the name. I was so happy I remembered that I used all caps and an exclamation point. Then I resumed the video. Moments later, Dr. Z shouted "WILSON!"at me. I was so confused. How could he read my comment during the filming?? I am glad you remembered, Dr. Z. Next time I'll watch a whole video before commenting.

Decades ago I stopped adding salt when cooking having been told there is more than enough sodium chloride in most foods. But people not only add salt during the cooking process but hurl it over their food once it is on the plate, so their daily intake must be really, really high. I might have guessed that Dr Paul would find an excuse for eating chicken wings! And as for Dr Brad I’m beginning to wonder if kale is to him what chicken wings are to Dr Paul? (Times mentioned) You two fab Docs can really make me laugh. Actually it is so good to have humour interspersed with seriousness, for by so doing helps the brain to remember. Many thanks for another enlightening video

I see just as many studies and videos that say that salt does NOT affect blood sugar. And lots of people have mentioned that eliminating carbs is what reduced their blood pressure, NOT salt.

It's a tad difficult to kick the salt but so worth it. I cook with some salt but do not salt my food once it has been prepared. I feel better, not bloated, since limiting my salt intake. Thanks for the comedic moments as well as the information shared.

I’m glad I watched this. I started taking a granule or two of Celtic sea salt each time I had a glass of water. I heard this was beneficial to get essential minerals into the body. I actually kind of liked it, but I think I’ll stop doing that now.

Thank you so much! Have a great evening, & take care.

My dad had a low sodium crisis, brought on by his prescriptions for high blood pressure and cholesterol mixture. It was crazy, panic attacks, not pooing all the way, which would lead to a panic attack. After a few days and a doctor visit we took him to the ER. There is a sodium therapy they have to do. Your body has a "normal" level of sodium and will always try to regulate to that "normal" . It goes down slowly until it gets to critical..you have to do sodium slowly up so your body won't fight and adjust and create a new "normal" level. These were common prescriptions interacting..

I'm with the Docs on this one. I've reduced my daily sodium intake to 800-1000mg per day and my BP has dropped to the point where I don't need meds anymore. Unfortunately, this isn't easy because there is so much sodium being added to food and there are few low sodium choices in the supermarket.
