ఒకవేళ జేఈఈ మెయిన్స్ కి ఒక షిఫ్ట్ లో 20 మంది విద్యార్థులు అపియర్ అయినప్పుడు మొదటి మార్కు కు 20వ ర్యాంకు, చివరి మార్కుకు ఒకటవ ర్యాంకు ఇస్తారు. అప్పుడు మొదటి ర్యాంకు విద్యార్థికి 20/20/*100=100 పర్సంటైల్ గా లెక్కిస్తారు.
రెండవ మార్కు విద్యార్థికి 19/20*100=95 పర్సంటైల్ గా లెక్కిస్తారు.
చివరి మార్కు విద్యార్థికి 1/20*100=5 పర్సంటైల్ గా లెక్కిస్తారు.
ఇక్కడ విద్యార్థి కి వచ్చిన మార్కుల కన్నా ఆ షిఫ్ట్ లో రాసిన విద్యార్థులలో అతని యొక్క స్థానానికి ప్రాముఖ్యత ఉంటుంది.

Jee mains exam itself a great gambling game. Why cannot they set similar level of QP for all shifts? It is possible also. Secondly, no QP covers most of topics and even important topics too, completely neglected. Manually we can prepare 12 model QP with similar level. Coming to percentile, irrespective of raw score, highest raw score = 100 percentile. But while giving final ranks, again they are taking Maths as 1 later physics to decide rank. In a difficult paper X scored less in maths but Y scored higher marks in other session. If percentile of X = Y = 100, better rank will be given to Y. Is it justified? Even one can calculate percentage too up to 7 digits as negative marking exists. Make negative mark as 0.25, then very easy to give ranks.
