Went from FWD A4 Avant B8.5 to Mk2 Q3 45TFSI quattro.... A4 more solid, but Q3 better for my lower back muscles.... overall, very pleased and just the right amount of tech. Totally right-sized and love the virtual cockpit with nav.

A great edit on this video. Also, a gloriously thorough appraisal. Bravo.

The day will come when reviewers are not given the top of the line specs of a car they’re reviewing. Most people in the market for a Q3 won’t be buying what you review.

I seem to like my manual eco diesel suv's ( Honda HRV, Vauxhall Mokka...) and was thinking of upgrading to a Q3. However, I have been reading on the internet that one of the ways Audi dealt with the recent diesel emission scandal was to direct some of these emissions back into the engine. Apparently later on this can cause four figure engine repair bills?! Is there a way I could check if a potential vehicle has this set up before purchase?

There's a noticeable improvement on the camera work on this particular review. Well done, What Car team!

Great review and detail of the whole range and options. I just bought a Q3 35 1.5 S Line. The only down side, o traded my Porsche Macan GTS :-(

I test drove several of these yesterday and loved them. The hybrid was my least favourite but I loved the 2.0 40TFSI.

Did you actually drive the 35 TFSI you recommend? Sluggish automatic gearbox, and a bit of a strained powertrain don’t make for a terribly pleasant experience… the manual gets around the gearbox but not the lack of power.

I’d really suggest the 40 TFSI or 35 TDI are MUCH more suited to this car - having driven the entire range other than the 45 TFSI (non hybrid) and 40TDI

Had a 2020 Q3 40 Quattro S-Line with 19" wheels, slightly bigger than the previous generation so decent room in the back seats and boot, main issue was the ride, very firm and unrefined particularly for rear seat passengers, also the cabin quality is questionable with some rattling even after only 3 years and less than 15k miles. Part-exchanged for a Q4 50 Quattro Black Edition, far smoother and refined ride even with 21" wheels, although much more expensive than a Q3 and worse breaks, too.

Test drove both the Q3 and the new X1. The new X1 is a far better package. Punchier entry level engine and standard equipment. Very underwhelmed by the Q3. Sportback looks nice in the S-Line trim though.

I just got used Q3 2022 that has 4k miles. Recently it has been raining more, a few times after setting the parking brake the wheels were locked and a loud pop before they broke free. Is this normal? Or should I take it in? There's rust on the part behind there wheels as well. Are either of these covered under warranty?

Also have to say it’s quite funny you saying the Technology pack Pro doesn’t have tech worth recommending… but ignore the driver assistance pack. if you do a lot of mileage, the adaptive cruise alongside side assist are phenomenally useful. Equally 360 cameras make driving it around town much more enjoyable if you have the tech pack pro - and matrix headlights are something else in the winter

During Covid I lost my mind and traded in my A5 for a Q3 sport back. Lovely to look at, but awful to drive. 35 TDI and the interior quality horrible versus the 2018 A5 and the A3 I had before it. The spec was also shocking. Honestly, I still have no idea why I bought it. I got rid of it after 10 months and got a BMW 330e M Sport.

Question for the experienced people
Can one have an all round steering wheel instead of the flat bottom one?

What does the term “overall not very good” actually mean (mentioned at the end for higher trims)😄 by what standards? I feel that such statements may be misleading when made without any arguments.

Strange. You'd think the higher up trim levels would get you air suspension. Not an even firmer ride. Why do we have to buy bigger and bigger SUVs in order to get that feature? This always puzzled me about the Q3. Thanks

A Veneer of Premium over a completely average Vehicle.
