Definitely the creepiest part of the movie. It gives you enough time to think 'holy shit run' but also happens so quickly that you don't know how Chris should react.

To me, this scene was both so creepy and funny at the same time. I feel like there is an internal struggle with all of the slaves in this movie. When Walter was running towards Chris, Roman was in control, and was having a running exercise, because he was still angry over being beat by Jesse Owens, and I feel as if the grandpa part of his brain took over, and wanted to show how fast he was, while wanting to attack Chris at the same time, but the Walter part of his brain took over, and ran the other way to save him.

For me, the reason why this scene is so scary for some people is because it’s so different from your normal jump scare. Instead of the threat appearing instantly you get like a six seconds timeframe where you see it running towards you, which is a resource most films nowadays don’t use. It’s more anxiety inducing than other type of scares

I just saw this movie last week and I busted out laughing at this scene. Just from the fact that bro stood there and did nothing about it, like his fate was sealed, had me rolling. 🤣🤣🤣

I feel like the true reason Grandpa was running in this scene was not only because he was a track star, but because he thought Chris was trying to escape. He began to charge Chris only to turn away when realizing he was just outside smoking a cigarette and the ruse was still on. The fact he’s running while wearing working clothes and so late at night tells me he doesn’t just do laps all night long. You can make an assumption that Grandpa has had to chase down many escapees.
