The fact that ANY of this had to take place is shameful on the part of Georgia lawmakers & doctors. She should have had access to abortion medication in her own state. She should have received medical care no matter what. And NO ONE other than Amber should have control over her reproductive choices!

Lies. Her death had nothing to do with the Georgia law. She had used abortion pills in NC. On her return to GA, it was negligence of not performing timely curretage AFTER the baby had been aborted, NOT because of fear of being arrested There are 4 clear exceptions in the Georgia law, 3 of which would have prevented her death. No one talks about it. See the exceptions below:
1) To save the pregnant person's life.
2) To preserve the pregnant person's physical health
3) If the fetus is not expected to survive the pregnancy
4) If the pregnancy is a result of rape and/or incest

When you decide to report on this, did you use logic in simple math? The abortion was already done with the pills that she aborted twins so the abortion law would have nothing to do with aftercare. This is malpractice, but not an abortion thing.

As a physician, and supporter of abortion ( legal but rare), this is truly a tragedy. But I do this kind of review, and we don''t know yet what the state’s maternal mortality review committee found, other that her death was preventable. This was very likely to be malpractice, so blame the doctors. Blaming the " heart beat" bill is premature, other than very indirectly, esp if this turns out to be a typical malpractice case.

Obviously a botched abortion killed this poor woman, NOT anti abortion laws

Yall should try reporting the whole story, not just the parts that give this social clout..

Georgia’s pro-life heartbeat act was not responsible for Thurman’s death. That is because the law allows physicians to intervene in cases of medical emergencies or if the preborn child has no detectable heartbeat. The Doctor(s), hospital and insurance is likely liable for this give n the terrible decisions made regarding treatment.

Super tragic but She could have lived had she not got an abortion. So many women die from sepsis and infection after get an abortion. Super SAD. The fact that she waited over twenty hours at a hospital for medical treatment just for them to send her home to die IS SAD. Not having access to abortion is not what killed her. She died by complications of the abortion and Negligence from the hospital.

If she went to another state to get an abortion she should have stayed there to make sure everything was going to go well. She should have been under doctors care in the state she got abortions pills.

All l see is a beautiful little boy and a loving mother. God help us all if decisions we make are punished by death. She had wonderful potential and now a little boy will have to grow up without her. My heart is with her family and with love towards them.

Reading the article about her: Sorry, but the delayed care started with her waiting a week after taking the pill, having complications, to go to the hospital . She left NC acknowledging what they told her. And seeking medical help if you have complications. If you are having alot of bleeding and/or throwing up blood, cramping, and you go several days like that BEFORE going to a hospital? ???? Why? Piedmont Hospital is not in some small po- dunk area. It’s about 20-30 minutes give or take from Atlanta.

Amber got her abortion, and the twins said, "You're coming with us, Mom."

The state of Georgia should not sell that pill because of what happened to Amber. The pill isn't safe for women to take
