Really helpful when a storm took out 3 panes of glass in my old house (circa1890). Found out even a 65 year old lady can do this!

Watching this video because I’m writing. My character broke his window on accident and is now having a premature window repair trip. Very helpful for a real broken window, and written DIY repair👍

I just downloaded this video because I’ve had to come back to it so many times now 😆 3 kids and a giant dog = lots of broken windows

This is great! I was going to hire someone to replace the small pane in my bedroom that my dog with the huge butt decided to sit against. She was fine. Most of the window is on the ground outside. Note to self, don't put bed against window while having a 90 dog in the family. Furniture is now rearranged and I'm going to put in the window! Thanks!

well....

Thanks Jonny. I watched several of these vids where the measurement of the glass was skipped. It took me until now to find out I needed a 1/8" gap all round.

Omg thank you cuz I was challenged with my broken wooden window because I had no idea how these pains were attached to the frame. Now after ur video I feel much less stupid then before! Lol

I feel empowered now to tackle this on my own - thank you! Question though...I have the same type of window and am wondering how did you put the little tacks at the top of the window? It seems somewhat blocked by the upper stationary window.

Before I removed the glass, I laid some strips of masking tape across to keep it from falling apart when it broke - which it did.

As someone who has had to restore dozens of windows with silicone caulking in them. Please, for the love of every beautiful old house on the market, do not use silicone caulking!!! It's not only difficult to remove well, but it causes so much damage to the wood underneath. The wood in the windows with silicone caulking was soft and disintegrating in a manner that I didn't see even on the windows whose glazing fell out decades ago. Glazing putty is the only way to go.

So you leave the push points on place ? And thank you for the explanation of 45* caulking angle and measurements to allow for expansion with hot and cold
