Marthyn is legend. As an academy member, I can say that he's the real deal and has the goods, understands this stuff very deeply and can communicate it effectively. Absolute gold.

This video was the greatest video I've ever seen about double pedals. It is a great feeling to know that others are experiencing the same problems, to know the confusing issues about the settings, to know that I am not the only one who feels incompetent with the double pedal, and to know that the best setting is actually about feeling comfortable. Thank you very much indeed!

In these videos you always talk about "improving" your double bass drumming. Can you do a "one step before" video on how to combine both feet while doing the ankle technique?

Muscle group involvement. I'd just like to highlight the most important moment of this video at 9:45. That's IT!! That's the one thing that I'm unconsciously doing, which as you describe, throws off balance. This is the missing link. Just keep in mind all the time with the weak foot. Calf! Claf! Calf! :)

Little to no spring tension has worked best for me. Never could get used to tight springs.

Great video man! I'm 15 and I love playing METAL. With much double bass. I use the Pearl RedLine Eliminator belt pedal. Changing the cam into the yellow one helped me a lot! I cranked the spring almost full up since I got the endurance to play consistent 140bpm. But all the rest is practice practice practice. Ok it's sometimes really boring but without all adjustments are useless. I personally practice like The Rev said, I sit down and play for like 1 or 1 and a half hours just double kick and go for endurance not for speed, because if you have endurance, you automatically have speed. First I warm up, and then I practice. Until now I practice a constant speed of 150-155 BPM and then I play 160 BPM for 5-10 minutes and after that I go back to 150-155 BPM for a while and then repeat. My fastest speed is 200 BPM, for a few seconds and 180 for 30 seconds. I do it every single day at least once and if I have enough time I do it twice a day. It's like you said, it's only possible if you have enough time every day, and I'm really happy that I have that! It's a lot but I think it really gets payed off after a while of doing it! It helped me a lot. So I was able to cover Eagle Fly Free or Faster Than The Flame with triplets on the kick at 200 bpm. With practice everything is possible🤘🤘🤘

Game changing infos in this video. Today I went to my practice room and realized that the left foot spring was tighter then the main one. I put both at the same tension and voilà! My lest foot was faster, smoother and I improved. Also focusing on avoiding to use upper leg muscles on the left foot. Cheers!

Another struggle that is real: lower priced E-kits often come with a kick tower. These are unstable and unresponsive. They are awful. I replaced mine with a Roland kd-120 so that I wasn't playing a moving target.

did you have to connect the kick pedal pad to something or it holds up with the foot pedal?

Balance issues/posture is probably the single most important thing. And overlooked by about 99% of drummers.
Take the time to learn how to sit properly. Make the commitment to good posture.
