Warm ups are important for any meeting or event and I thought that the age-old icebreakers needed some fine tuning. I remember in high school and in college how shy these made me feel, but I was able to come up with some icebreakers that are fun, engaging, and welcoming.

When I was a junior in high school I told my friends I’d get us out class for one day. Made a case to the principal that the students that usually don’t interact could build bridges with ice breaker type activities.

“Community Awareness Day”

It was great. I assigned the teachers to do the work preparing everything. They had to do their homework. Every job / youth group ice breaker was tackled at our Yale alternative school lol.

Weird thing was.. it actually worked. Everyone made a bunch of new friends 🤷🏻‍♀️

And no homework that day 🎉
