One of world’s largest cargo planes lands at Edmonton International Airport

One of the biggest cargo planes in the world made a stop at the Edmonton International Airport (EIA) Saturday afternoon.

For the first time, three Antonov AN-124 aircraft arrived at EIA within 24 hours.

“It’s a bit of a bright spot for us in a time when we are in this long, temporary downturn on passenger travel,” EIA president and CEO Tom Ruth said.

There are only 55 of the massive planes worldwide. It has four turbofan engines and more than 20 tires. It can carry 150 tonnes — equivalent to the weight of about 23 elephants.

As a Canadian I think Russia has amazing abilities to re-engineer almost anything. This plane is absolutely spectacular.

Canada needs to massively increase defense spending. We are probably going to take around half of the traffic currently going through Panama. We should install refineries in Alberta, for domestic use and to fuel our busiest airports. We should install a refinery in the Northwest Passage for cargo ship and Northern development projects. At the same time we should invest in Canadian green tech companies. Our Air Force could use 10, 000 drones, or more, to ensure resource security. Our Navy and Coast Guard could use several thousand coastal defense submersibles.

unfortunatly Antonov design bureau will disappear soon. today Antonov company can't produce An-124. When flight resource of An-124 will come to end they will disappear. in 2014 nazi with oligarkhs came to power in the ukraine. today we've got russophobia and there is no freedom of speech, corruption! but russia gona build new plane to replace an-124. developing with help of an-124 chief designer.
