I was a C-130 crew chief for 32 years, but I still love to see all manner of aircraft...

Why did you use a fake pic as your thumbnail?

I recently started my job at Boeing and have seen the comparisons between the 747 witch is a commercial use plane compared to a 777x. the 777x is almost 3x the size and is huge but has stopped being used for commercial use.

As a non-engineer I am shocked at how in the world the Beluga is able to take off and remain in flight with that very odd shape. It just looks so not aerodynamic, but clearly the engineers knew what they were doing! The Antonov & 747 are my favorites of all of these. The spruce goose is incredible too. What a cool concept.

I can't imagine getting over 1 million pounds up in the air 😮. And the Beluga and Valkyrie are certainly odd looking ducks. 😊

The aircraft shown at the beginning of the segment on the C-5M is actually a C-17 Globemaster III.

Nice job!

The sad part of some of these giants, some have been lost in either accidents or war…..

You showed part of the video from the horrific crash of the XB70, where the bomber was flying in formation for a photo shoot for GE for their calendar because all the planes in formation with the XB70 all had GE engines….

Unfortunately a Lockheed Star Fighter flying on the right side of the XB70 got caught in the XB70s airflow, flipped over and onto the bomber’s tail and blew up, which caused the XB70 to go in a steep dive into the desert floor below….

One of the bomber’s pilots ejected, but the copilot went down with the plane while the Star Fighter pilot died when one of the XB70s rudders went through the Star Fighter, s canopy…..

As for the ANT 225, it was hungered somewhere in Ukraine and the Russian military used the airport for target practice thus the plane was destroyed….

There is another 225 airframe in storage and there are plans to recycle parts from the wrecked plane with the 2nd airframe….

Of course, the war has to end, but other than that………

The Dream lifters did not come from 747-400's.. they came from 747-200's. Go look it up.

22:38 - *Antonov 225 "Mriya"* - World's largest plane died at Hostomel Airport early in russia's fullscale invasion of Ukraine.

*_Ukrainian downshifter_* (channel), video: _"Trip to Antonov airfield factory - traces of russian invasion."_ - A visit to Hostomel Airport, Ukraine. Featuring 2 Ukrainian YouTubers, pilot _Denys Davidov_ (channel), and soldier _Operator Starsky_ (channel), the latter in combat on the invasion's first day from his barracks next to the airport. Interesting tour. A short visit to An-225 Mriya in the last few minutes of the video.

*_Operator Starsky_* (channel), video: _"Hostomel tour with Denys Davydov"_ - Staysky's tour of the airport with Denys (probably same day as above), a very interesting report, although no footage of An-225 Mriya. [Edit] There's footage of the huge Antonov 22-A at the airport, immobile due to some combat damage (doesn't _look_ too serious to me). I do recommend both videos.

NOTE: In later years An-225 Mriya was often used to carry humanitarian aid to places in need around the globe. A true legacy.

[Edit - edit] I just found pilot Denys Davidov's video on the destruction of Antonov 225 Mriya on his pilot blog channel:
*_Pilot Blog_*_ - "The TRUTH behind Antonov-225 Destruction. Why An-225 was not evacuated?"_

💙 R.I.P Mriya 💛 Slava Ukraini! 🌻
