Sway bar links connect the sway bar (stabilizer bar) to other suspension components. They have a movable joint that can be damaged or wear out over time. When that happens, the joints get loose, and rattle. This video shows you how to install new TRQ sway bar links on your 2004-10 BMW X3.

This repair was done on a 2007 BMW X3 3.0si 3.0L and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2004 BMW X3
2005 BMW X3
2006 BMW X3
2007 BMW X3
2008 BMW X3
2009 BMW X3
2010 BMW X3

Tools you will need:
• 18mm Wrench
• Rust Penetrant

Thanks! Very helpful. I have a clanking sound when I go over a bump on my 2008 X3. When I check the sway bar end links, what else should I check in case this is not the case? It would be great to see an in depth diagnostic video on front and rear end suspension noises?

The 18mm wrench used on the stud side must be the thin type.

I get up popping, clunking, crunching noise when turning my steering wheel left or right. When I jack up the front end of my car, with tires off the ground and I turn the steering wheel left to right, I don't hear any noise. Could this be the control arms, or the stabilizer bar link?

I checked the stabilizer bar rubber "boots" and it is torn so I can see the metal ball joint inside
