I don't know why many ppl say that, "we learnt that we got independence only by Mahatma Gandhi". Like i'm learning a lot more. Even i'm learning Azad Hind Fauj, the Indian uprising of 1857, etc etc. Even my father learnt it when he was young. Don't know why many ppl are saying that they didn't learnt about it. Gandhiji unified indian people but Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose ji was the man thr British feared. Netaji was the most important reason for our freedom.

Real reason was inspiration sparked by bose which prompted 1946 Navy revolt, and Hitler aggression against Britain which weakened UK economically & militarily and possibilities of arms supplies by Soviets

The biggest freedom struggle was faced by Andaman Prisoners. Every Indian should know the struggle of those prisoners. It is worst struggle and darkest moments in Indian history. Big salute to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar sir. Iron Man of India. You can watch Malayalam movie Kaalapani as a reference.

After the critical weakening of British Empire by the First World War and then the massacre in Amritsar it became apparent to the British officials in India that their rule from London would come to and end sooner rather than later. It wasn't a question of "if" but of "when". Had this not been the case, a campaign of peaceful disobedience would have stood no chance. Similarly, Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army) didn't stand a chance against the Allied forces - ironically Gandhi was smart enough to speculate this - Bose didn't (or he chose to ignore that fact. I don't know).

So the bottomline is, British Govt. left because it was no longer economically, strategically and politically viable for them to rule India.

The communal rallies against persecution of INA members by British Govt. however worked against them as it worsened the already volatile situation.

Your argument that the British looted India - how? Why did Indians prefer to join the British army? Did they not take salaries? Britain was and is a small country located far away; how could it possibly have conquered India without help from others? Who were those others?

Check out the movie Gumnami, it's a very well-made movie on the trials of the Mukherjee Commission which investigated the death of netaji. There they clearly mentioned that his death was not by plane crash
